SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Coach Charlie Weis isn’t sure Notre Dame is a Top 10-caliber team. He seems assured that he is both fat and stupid though. He is also convinced that Notre Dame really doesn’t play a rigorous schedule and that the Irish struggle with the teams on that schedule.
Furthermore, Weis is convinced the 11th-ranked Fighting Irish deserved to be jumped in the polls and the Bowl Championship Series standings after a last-minute win over UCLA.
“One of the teams [Tennessee] that jumped us had the same game that we had. They’re down, they’re playing at home and they win by a field goal, I mean fuck, we won by a field goal over a team (UCLA) that is a 2-team conference (PAC-10)” Weis said Tuesday. “Another team [Florida] that jumped us wasn’t even playing. They were home, eating cheeseburgers. God almighty, I wish I had been there to eat two or three with them, and they end up jumping us. This just beats the fuck outta me. I hate the SEC, they play good ball down there and beat the hell outta each other every week. I get penalized for playing pussies?”
Clemson moved ahead of Notre Dame in The Associated Press media poll with a 31-7 victory over Georgia Tech, a team the Irish struggled to beat 14-10 in the season opener.
The Irish dropped two spots to No. 10 in the USA Today coaches poll after Florida, which had a bye, and Tennessee, which came back from seven points down to beat Alabama 16-13 with a touchdown with 3:28 left, moved ahead of Notre Dame.
Texas, which needed a last-minute field goal to beat Nebraska 22-20, passed the Irish in the Bowl Championship Series standings, dropping Notre Dame to No. 9.
“Tell me how that works?” Weis said. “I am fat and stupid. Tell me how that works? Beano Fucking Cook and Brent Musburger will fix this shit. You fuckers watch, they love my ass-sweat”.
Notre Dame can secure a spot in a BCS game — and the $4.5 million that comes with it — by finishing eighth or better in the final standings.

Explain this to me. SI reports that Notre Dame can reach a BCS Bowl for a second straight year without beating a ranked opponent. USC is the only forecasted top ten team remaining. It is a forgone conclusion that the Irish will receive a Michigan-esqe ass whipping in Los Angeles from USC and still receive an at-large BCS Bowl berth.
