Herban Meyer is a Smart Feller

2006 November 15
by Jai Eugene

Herban Meyer has fooled all of the Gator opponents by mixing them up with all of his suspended players. They could not know how to prepare because they didn’t know or understand what Coach Meyer would do next on sitting out his players for their crimes. This planning and preparation just demonstrates how much of a better coach he is than any other human ever.

Herban Meyer will no doubt be ridiculed for his decision to let his players play the game, great men often are, but true fans recognize the service he has given to the school and his team. We should all learn from Meyer’s shining example and show our appreciation and love for the Gator Nation. Next time you run into a Gator player make sure to buy him a drink or a joint or an assault rifle or heck why not all 3? Just tell that Gator not to worry about that drive home, Coach has you covered.

Wow, the Gator Nation is lucky. You really see the gem you got in Coach Meyer. What with all that pressure at UF and all…..having to make the right decision or even a moral decision is just too much. Thank God, you have Herban to make the decision he made–right or not. Moral or not. I mean, if it gets you a championship then screw morals, right? We win! And the players learn to live the right way. Wait, um, the players learn to live like nobody can touch them. Wait, that doesn’t sound right either. Dadgumit, where’s Bobby Bowden to help out here….

Florida coach Urban Meyer would neither confirm nor deny a rumor that DE Jarvis Moss has been suspended for Saturday’s game against Western Carolina.

“I’ve heard that too,” Meyer said. “We’re dealing with something right now. I’m not ready to announce that.”

Message board rumors surfaced Monday night that Moss, named Southeastern Conference special teams player of the week Monday after block ing a field goal attempt in the closing seconds Saturday to help Florida salvage a 17-16 win against South Carolina, would miss the game.

The Gators are already down a defensive lineman af ter Marcus Thomas was dismissed from the team two weeks ago, but Meyer refused to address depth concerns on the line in light of the rumored suspension.

“I don’t want to get into that right now, because I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Meyer said.

The Hogs aren’t smart enough to know who they’re lining up against anyway. They’re just going to plow through the Gators like crap through geese.

Another excellent blog. An SEC coach playing suspended players. See you in the Swamp next year Junior for your annual beating, remember to get that mullet trimmed and break out your best jean shorts. Cause you got to fit in with the locals, Vollies!!! Mullets and Jorts are kewl! Hey did you hear that the newest craze in Gator traditions is ‘giving a blumpkin’ to strangers each time tebow runs the ball to the left? What is a gator blumpkin? Well here is what we Gators think it means

Meyer is the newest, “love to hate him” coach in the SEC… but unlike Fulmer, SOS and TT he pulls it off simply by being a prick.

Here is what is going to happen, Florida is going to win the SEC CG. Have you not watched any of our games? Notice that the crucial calls always go Urbans way? Like wheen that little white Lsu RB was just a ‘little short ‘ of the goal? Urban knows Lou Holtz who works at ESPN, ESPN decides who wins or loses.

So Arkie or LSU, better get those backsides greased up, the Gator Nation is going to stumpbreak you.

When are you morons going to get it? Meyer didn’t suspend anybody….the University did. I appreciate the humour in your blog, but there is no point in not being truthfull with the facts. Oh sure, he could have been a stand up guy and refused to play him, but winning is more important. I get it, Urban is final decision maker of who plays and does not play.

You guys think that you are so slick since you moved from blogger to wordpress. It shows in your cocky attitudes

you are kidding right? name me another coach in this conference, much less the country, that would kick his best defensive line talent off the team in the throws of a championship drive??

Bowden would applaud Thomas for only smoking weed and missing curfew, probably promote him to defensive captain. I do believe FSU now has a Pell Grant honorarium for Peter Warrick entitled “The Dillard’s Shopping Spree Scholarship fund”

Don’t worry, if he treats Moss the same way he did Thomas he’ll be back for the F$U and SECC games after serving time by sitting out against powerhouse Western Kentucky. Remember, Thomas was magically reinstated for the TN and LSU games. I’m sure he’s sorry he missed playing against UCF and Kentucky.

  13. 2006 November 16

    Gus,

herban uses a complicated algorithm (music w/o instruments for Gator fans) to compute the games his suspended players will miss. I understand that his suspension system is only rivaled by his spread offense in complexity.

He will have Jarvis and marcus back by December SEC CG in a sure loss to either LSU or the Hogs.I am sure that Herban is planning on opening up his on rehab clinic in the future.

When those players DO return, it will be like an Iraqi wedding celebration as fellow gator players shoot their AK-47s into the air

one can only hope that our athletes, when faced with the urge to smoke marijuana, would instead do the right thing and proceed to get charged with disorderly conduct and underage consumption of alcohol. especially if they’re the starting tailback, because precedent has been set where they only get suspended for a half.

  48. 2006 November 16

“People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. Unfortunately that applies to all the top shelf programs. Is it surprising? Kids today abuse substances and tote firearms. Plan B for most of the players, should the NFL not work out, is to become rappers.

gotta go, so a few parting shots…

Moss and Thomas are idiots. Let’s hope Moss gets his act together unlike Thomas.

Leak is what he is, a good QB in a system that doesn’t play to his strengths. I like him, he’s not perfect, but he’s definitely our best option. Mullen and Meyer need to stop being cutesy when in scoring distance in order to give him a chance to be successful and get the ball in the endzone.

And save for one group of drunk, moronic undergrads (which is to be expected anywhere), I found everyone to be pretty hospitable for my first trip to UT in September.

Knute, seriously, ND doesn’t have the cache it used to. You’ll be better off once you have that realization.

If it weren’t for an absurd “roughing the passer” penalty, the Vols waltz to victory over the Gators in Knoxville. That would have been nail in coffin.

UF has survived this year because they have not yet met a team that dominates in one facet of the game.

No way the Gators survive what Arkansas is dishing out this year. It is brutal.

“Lucky dog! The hit counter broke while you were on top! My Bob Knight post got linked by Deadspin today, but I’m not getting credit for any of the hits until they fix that shit.”

  59. 2006 November 16

    Gotta disagree here with L”f”B.

Florida and Arkansas should be one of the best SEC champ games in recent memory. Its strength versus strength in multiple facets of the game. DMcF versus the “high” FL D-Line should prove very interesting. Plus, if Florida’s offense shows up for the game (unlike Albarn’s and Tennessee’s) they should be able to score some points.

I think this may be Arkansas’s year, but for a bit of scheduling randomness (USC as first game? How many “BCS” contenders would want that?) they could be undefeated, playing their best ball, and going for a NC.

The FL defense that held the “Pound the Rock” Fulmer to NEGATIVE yards for rush should be able to slow DM/FJ a bit!
