Herban Meyer says: “I am Bigger than OPEC”
Herban Meyer is pissed because he was dissed. This hugely supreme and talented coach makes the rules as he goes. Much like the Mongols as they raced across other civilizations conquering and taking what was rightfully theirs. Here is the Dave Barry of the Miami Hearld’s uncut “slightly altered” interview with this incredible coaching prodigy. Look carefully, there is sage advice and wisdom buried in this candid but forceful article.
GAINESVILLE – Florida coach Herban Meyer is among those opposed (and let’s face it, the only one who really counts) to an Ohio State-Michigan rematch in the BCS National Championship game, a likely scenario since the teams remained Nos. 1 and 2 in the latest BCS Standings. Meyer recently changed his first name from ‘Urban’ to ‘Herban’ in protest of Federal Marijuana Laws that have plagued his team throughout the season.
Meyer is especially thankful for the SEC Championship Game. Without this game, Meyer’s Gators would not even have a chance for the SEC Title. You see, Florida is not the best team in the SEC. The Arkansas Razorbacks are the only SEC team undefeated in league play. Herban’s Gators lost to the Auburn Tigers, a team that Arkansas crushed at Auburn’s home field. Through the sure win over Arkansas in the Championship Game, Florida has a chance, a slight chance for the number 2 BCS position when they can beat Arkansas.
Meyer believes there are other one-loss teams – especially his 10-1 Gators after they beat Florida State on Saturday and Arkansas in the SEC title game , both games in Meyer’s mind are already in the ‘W” column- that deserve a chance to play for the national title instead of the Wolverines.

“I think that’d be unfair to Ohio State, and I think it’d be unfair to the country,” Meyer said. “I just don’t believe that’s the right thing to do. You’re going to tell Ohio State they have to go beat the same team twice, which is extremely difficult, and you’re going to tell teams that played their hearts out [that they can't play for the national title] … they [Michigan] had their chances. Ohio State is No. 1, someone has a chance to go get No. 1.
“If that [rematch] does happen, it’s over. I will convene all the presidents together immediately and put together a playoff system, I mean like now, January, or whenever to get that done. The American public doesn’t realize how big and powerful I really am. “
Meyer is upset because he watched ESPN on Saturday night
and heard the analysts and experts lobbying for a rematch. The teams that play in the BCS title game on Jan. 8 in Glendale, Ariz., should be determined on the field, and not by a talking head, Meyer said.
“I’ve seen the lobbying begin,” he said. “I start seeing these liberal and left wing nationwide polls, sportswriters, fans, media, everybody’s going to get their hands on this thing, and I don’t know how it’s … I dream of the day that all other schools will be playing for second place behind my Gators, unless I decide to leave for a better contract at another program. I can say that can’t I? Like a disclaimer? “
Herban Meyer, however, may hold more sway than analysts and experts want to believe. The Gators dropped from third to fourth in the ESPN coaches’ poll after dominating Division I-AA powerhouse Western Carolina 62-0 on Saturday. Southern California moved from fourth to second after beating California 23-9. Meyer is pissed.
Michigan, which lost 42-39 to OSU, dropped from second to third, one spot ahead of Florida. That helped the Wolverines to stay No. 2 in the BCS Standings.
Meyer’s argument in regards to Florida playing for the national title over Notre Dame and Arkansas concerns those teams’ double-digit home losses – Michigan beat Notre Dame by 26, and USC beat Arkansas by 36. He’s more understanding regarding USC.
“USC, you could make a case for them, and you could make a case for us,” Meyer said. “I think Arkansas would be a little more difficult to make one, because they were head-to-head [with USC] and they got beat by a team that’s right there. Hellfire, I think USC just scored on them again, Meyer joked. Same thing with Notre Dame. They’re not deserving, but the fact is they got beat at home [by Michigan] by a humongous margin. Plus that Phat-ass Charlie Weis starts that Florida eats cheeseburgers crap? I am glad I told those Domers to pack sand when they asked me to coach there. What a huge mistake that would have been for me professionally. Tyrone Willingham’s recruits were just not as good as Ron Zook’s recruits. Ronnie!!! If you are reading this, I sent you a Christmas Card buddy. You are a helluva recruiter.”
The irony of Meyer trashing the BCS is overwhelming. The BCS is exactly what catapulted Meyer into the national spotlight two years ago when the flawed system allowed Meyer’s Utah team to play in the Fiesta Bowl against a Big East team. It is widely accepted that the Big East must have their automatic Big East Bowl Bid removed. Meyer is quietly using his power and political clout to to make this dream a reality, much to the chagrin of ESPN and the Big East Conference.
“I think they’re both excellent teams, but realistically the one team out there is University of Florida, and probably Southern Cal. But Southern Cal got beat by an unranked team. We went to a hostile environment [at Auburn], played our heart out, we were on the 6-yard line and failed to get it done. Moral victories have got to count for something.”
Meyer said he wouldn’t recognize Michigan as the national champions if the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes in a rematch.
“If I’m Ohio State, I go get a bunch of rings picked out and say, ‘We won the national championship,’ ” Meyer said. “That’s not right.”

Good shit, that Herb. Can I hit that?
You need Marcus’ bong, Herban is holding it in the pic
That “stuff” was written by Dave Barry.
Dumbass, read the whole thing. It is a parody.
Listen Meyer, you are a fucking idiot. I believe that a school must win it’s own conference to be in the BCS. Did you see my Buckeyes win last saturday? We won our conference. At best, Florida is the second best team in the SEC.
