There have been a number of speculative lists of possible candidates published, with names including current college coaches like Paul Johnson of Navy, Jim Grobe of Wake Forest, Jeff Tedford of California, Steve Kragthorpe of Tulsa and others. Alabama could wait on collegiate or NFL candidates to conclude their final games before offering the post. (Rush Propst? Why not, he would be cheap)
Gene Stallings has said that he could still coach Bama but that he really isn’t interested anyway. Nick Saban is from the Herban Meyer mold, except that Saban is much more polished and is the real deal as a coach (as opposed to being a stooge like Meyer). He actually admits when he “stretches the rules“. Saban must have been a military kid growing up. Saban likes to move every 3 years and I am sure that Mal is looking longer tenured coach than the Saban-Meyer Mercenary Model.
