CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Two Illinois football players were released on bond after being charged with obstructing justice and possessing stolen property.

Jody Ellis and Derrick McPhearson posted $2,500 bail and were released from the Champaign County Jail Saturday, Sgt. Rhonda Tarr said Sunday. The two are to appear in court Monday.

Coach Ron Zook said Saturday the two sophomore wide receivers were suspended from the team for “alleged criminal activity.”

Previously, Zook had been fired for a series of embarrassing incidents at Florida. The last incident involving a campus fraternity. Members of the Gator football team got into a fight with members of a university fraternity. Foley (Florida AD) asked Zook to go to the house and serve as a peacemaker. Instead, Zook lost his temper and became argumentative with the students.
