Every year it’s the same old thing. Tennessee goes through Spring practice without the vast majority of their starters. All the fans will get excited about some walk-on (usually David Yancey) who will shine against the second and third stringers, and the whole thing will amount to one giant waste of time.
Last year nearly everybody was missing. This year it is even worse. I am sure Yancey will shine once again. For the past 10 years he has provided senior Spring practice leadership. He owns the UT record for the most Spring Practice MVP Awards (10), a record that is unlikely to be broken in our lifetime. If there is ever a Spring Practice Hall of Fame constructed (possibly near that giant basketball eyesore, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame) then Yancey is sure to have a statue standing at the entrance, with daffodils and tulips (Spring flowers) growing in profusion on the hill behind him.
Whoever the Spring Practice hero is in 2007 (Yancey or Non-Yancey), the fanbase will shower him with praise and imagine this walk-on-diamond-in-the-rough laying waste to the arrogant scholarship players who don’t give their all for Tennessee every day and on every single play. They will imagine this Orange Rudy leading the Vols to glory when the foliage changes to those glorious autumn colors. Bless his walk-on heart!
Sorry for being so cynical. There are heartwarming stories of walk-ons who turn out to be true difference makers. For instance, there is JJ McKlesy. And don’t forget about……….hmmm…………well I can’t seem to think of any others. That’s because the real work doesn’t start until the big boys come to practice. And for some reason they don’t practice in the Spring at Tennessee. When the real work begins, the walk-on Spring Practice MVP will be buried so deep in a sea of depth that he will need a pressurized suit just to keep his head from exploding.

Yeah, d00d. Walk-Ons never make it. Especially walk-ons from Bristol. You runde a goud a tak off.
thanks

This article is such bullshit!
Anyone with one with haf a braine wud noow that Jon Crompton is this teems MVP wether its spring fall or winter.
Enybody that says utherwise is a asshole and my wumen and me will track you down on the enternit. Then we will kick your ass even if it is at halftime in the tuba line.
You can talk all you want about Peyton Manning, but hes a sissy who can’t run over safeties like Jon can. All you morons who root for Aine, well we’ll get you. We’ll stick you real good.
Should we nominate David Yancey for a Lifetime Achievement Award? Trooper and Yancey are the future of this program. Fire everyone and initiate the new regime now!
Yoo donte no anythinge about the cromponts. We might be fat and slow but we hav a noodel arm. aine looks like a fukin skinny tree throweing the ball around for a 67 percent completion rate (Tops in UT History) and neerly 3,000 yardse passing. Aine iis noty atroo leader jon is boss
Look man, my brother DJ love UT, he would do anything for anyone on this football team. No need for the disrespect, And he was just as good as any back yall had on the team dick head….Who the fuck are you anyway??????????????????????????? slap dick…..
We love David Yancey. He is the ultimate Volunteer. No disrepect intended. We are making an observation that Tennessee has more injury problems than any other team in the country.
