‘Changing’ the operative word for world, Florida’s Meyer
CBS’s Dennis Dodd just made me shart..just a little. Dennis it looks like we were both wrong about Mitch Mustain transferring to UTEP. Next time Dennis, don’t believe everything that I say then claim it as your own work. I invent a lot of shit. Here is Dennis’s latest effort on Herban Meyer [Dennis Dodd]
After the constant criticism of Urban Meyer’s discipline program by this Blog, by FSU’s Warchant Message Board and other websites, reading Dodd’s column has forced me to rethink my opinion of how Meyer handles problems. And just maybe some of you other critics should rethink of how you view this great leader too.
Just read this: “I’m the absolute opposite of that (zero tolerance),” Meyer said (no shit, really?). “That kind of —— me off. We’re tough. (But) we change people. We don’t eliminate people unless I am backed into a corner by the national media. There’s people that think discipline is elimination. Discipline is education, spending time with them. Especially if there is big Conference game the next week.”

Urban “Herban” Meyer will no doubt be ridiculed for his decision to let his players play the game, great men often are, but true fans recognize the service he has given to his school and his team. We should all learn from Meyer’s shining example and show our appreciation and love for the Gator Nation. Meyer loves his players. He recognizes that suspending or eliminating these players is not fair to the players but adversely impacts their families too. Heck it’s taking money right out of their pockets. How are these young men going to earn a living without playing ball?

“Sure his team has had its share of off-field incidents — allegedly involving a gun and failed drug tests — to go along with that amazing national championship in his second year at Florida. Too much wrongdoing, critics might say, for the guy who promised a get-tough policy for a program that was veering out of control under Ron Zook.”
Memo to the Gator Nation, to the whole stinking United States, Herban Meyer says we have to take care of these courageous young men. Coach Meyer can only do so much for them. So Gator Nation, next time you run into a Gator player make sure to buy him a drink or a joint or an assault rifle or heck why not buy all three? Just tell that Gator not to worry about that drive home, Coach has him covered. Lets show these heroic athletes your support!! And Gator players?…relax Coach has got you covered.
Wow, the Gator Nation is lucky. You really see the gem you got in Coach Meyer. What with all that pressure at UF and all…..having to make the right decision or even a moral decision is just too much. Thank God, you have Herban to make the decision he made–right or not. Moral or not. I mean, it got you a championship then screw morals, right? We win! And the players learn to live the right way. Wait, um, the players learn to live like nobody can touch them. Wait, that doesn’t sound right either.

Please…seriously please. All I have to say is that Marcus Thomas was kicked off the team for violations of the drug policy last year. He probably would have been a sure fire first round draft pick and still might be a first day pick. That hurt UF’s defensive front tremendously (luckily for Troy Smith) and they still won the championship. Yeah, it’s an embarrasing instance for UF and the football team, but don’t for one second think that there isn’t a handful of players on every team in the NCAA that are using illict substances or doing something they shouldn’t be doing. URBAN is an honorable man, that does the right things. At least he doesn’t take the stance of Bobby “Dadgummitt” Bowden who, when a player does ____________(insert crime here) says “my boy said he didn’t do it… so he didn’t do it”.
I knoe right like coache herban said he reelly want to beat souf carolina so he like yo Jarvis u can play if u wants two we needs tyou. den I blocked a field gole to win. yeeee boi geightors in the fuckin house!
Thanks for the link to the hearwarming piece by Dennis Dodd.
” Maybe folks notice the wrongdoing here more because Florida won it all. Maybe it’s no more than any school in the hyper-competitive SEC, or around the country.
The fallacy here is that it was ever zero tolerance under Meyer. Mess up and you’re gone. A recovering alcoholic named Marty Johnson can tell you that’s not the case. ”
Jai, if you think Herban’s stance is “screw morals” then just keep on shouting that. Align yourself with Warchant and the other Gaytor Haters. Sure, the rest of the world might laugh a bit at your foolishness, but at least you’ll still have your Vol street cred.

Am I taking crazy pills? How do people not see right through this clown? He encourages this type of behavior for goodness sake. Pretty soon Switzer will be referred to as the “Urban Meyer of His Generation.”
JDW, Indeed those are crazy pills you are taking. Switzer and Meyer both have the players best interest at heart. Please punch a mexican int the face for this comment: Switzer will be referred to as the “Urban Meyer of His Generation.”
If you had said this yesterday, before the great word thief Dennis Dodd wrote that Tebow-esque Fluffer article, I would have given you a Pan American Games Gold Medal. Now, I want to give you a Gators NC Wife Beater Tank Top

Good points. Here are words to live by: Urban “Herban” Meyer will no doubt be ridiculed for his decision to let his players play the game, great men often are, but true fans recognize the service he has given to his school and his team. We should all learn from Meyer’s shining example and show our appreciation and love for the Gator Nation.
Winning is the operative word for world, Florida’s Meyer.

Dennis Dodd is the counterbalance to Mike Freeman. Freeman is the CBS guy that started all of the “poor Chris Leak” and Herban is hurting Leak’s Heisman chances. Thanks Dennis for righting a huge wrong against Herban. Chomp Chomp
Thumper, yes Thomas was kicked off the team, but not by your beloved Herban. The university had to step in.
Yes, the absolute opposite of zero tolerance, that is the Dear Leader, Herban Meyer
I made an audible laughing sound. Leak and Heisman in the same sentence! In Leak’s four years at Florida he did improve in one area: his ability to throw the ball out of bounds. As an upperclassman, he showed the ability to heave the pigskin all the way back to the bench. However, he never could force himself to made contact with a defender or fight for yardage. Not exactly Heisman stuff.

Wow, steal from Bill Simmons much? I’m sure he’s a blog-god to you or something but you’re one unoriginal fuck. I’m sure you’ll delete this like all my other posts that make you look foolish.
Do you honestly believe that story about FSU creating “seminal fluid”?
Bernie, Good to see you back, fuckhead. Bill Simmons is stealing from us….Fuck you
Pleasure to be here.
In honor of NASCAR, I’d like to welcome you to my Column of Tomorrow. . . . First things first: Did you see where Florida is doing a $28 million expansion of its football stadium? Not sure what exactly the project entails, but with another UF football player (guard Ronnie Wilson) being arrested with a semi-automatic weapon last week, I’m thinking one of the renovations should be adding a metal detector to the tunnel leading onto the field. Geez, it’s no wonder Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith went down so fast during the national-championship game: UF’s defensive ends probably were packing AK-47s that night. Of course, I feel confident UF Coach Urban Meyer will slap a stringent penalty on Wilson. I’m thinking Meyer might suspend him for the entire first quarter of today’s spring game. . . .
The 3rd paragraph from the bottom of this post is word for word from Dodd’s column. You probably meant to put it in quotes, just letting you know.
Doug
Dennis really did steal the Mustain/UTEP angle from us. He owes us
I suppose Dennis Dodd stealing from us is better than Orson at EDSBS.
Jai, love the blog, and just to let you know, I was only pointing it out. Not trying to insinuate anything or crap like that.
As for the Marcus Thomas incident: Florida fans, wasn’t it such a weird coincidence that Thomas was suspended for the games before the UT game, played the UT game, and then was suspended for the games afterward? Ironic stuff.
Doug, It was all captured here on the blog. Search under Mota
