Juwan Simpson is my Damn Battle Captain

(Above, Juwan culling out the weakest member of the herd)
Congrats Juwan Simpson [Birmingham News]. We always knew that you would make the annals of Crimson Tide history [WWBD?]. Better yet, lets thank Mike Shula and his big gold chain for making Juwan’s honor possible. Shula could have suspended or dismissed this great player, but then who is Shula to stand in the way of greatness?
It took great courage for Shula to be 180 degrees of “zero tolerance” in making a stand against illegal drug trafficking and weapons charges [Arrest]. Gosh, that remind me of Herban Meyer’s winds of change.

Shula, or “Lil Bear” as the Capstone once called him, made the crucial decision to let this humble player just play the damn game. Props to Mike Shula for demonstrating a football acumen well beyond his young years.
One of those former captains suggested, if Bear Bryant were the coach and the players voted Simpson captain, the coach would’ve rigged the election in a different direction.
Shula responded by telephone : “Fuck those old bastards, the Independence Bowl bid is on the line, and I always wanted to stay in a hotel in Shreveport [Shula was fired prior to the Independence Bowl].”
He’ll [Simpson] make his mark Saturday in wet cement on the Walk of Fame at Denny Chimes as part of the A-Day festivities, as one of two permanent captains of the 2006 team, along with Le’Ron McClain.
It’s one of the greatest honors an Alabama football player can receive because the permanent captains are selected by a vote of their teammates.
