Portis, who’s pretty much famous for being a complete idiot, has once again lived up to that reputation when he said that if Michael Vick hosted dog fights at a home he owned in Virginia then “If that’s what he wants to do then do it. I think people should mind their business.”
Reporter: But Clinton, hosting or participating in dog fights is a felony.
Portis: “It can’t be too bad of a crime.”
Now I realize this guy went to Miami and thus received education on par with that of an air conditioner repairman who went to ITT Tech but you would expect that he would have the common sense not to make these comments. But let’s keep in mind that this is the same man who brought you Southeast Jerome.
Portis has since tried to back down from his comments saying that he has never been involved with or endorse dogfighting. That’s the thing about words, Clinton, contrary to what you were taught at The U, once you say them — you can’t unsay them.
The NFL has a real serious problem on its hands because my guess is that many share the exact same vantage point that Portis shares and until they curb that mentality, there will continue to be off the field issues with players.
