ESPN VideoGames elaborates on new Tecmo football game

In 2008, the Tecmo Bowl series will return, but Tecmo won’t tell us how just yet. [espn] The company teased a new installment in the hard-hitting sports franchise at an event in Japan today, but they only showed a logo and promised the game would be arriving on a surprising platform that we didn’t expect — maybe a handheld?

While all cool and stuff (my guess on the “Mystery Platform” is cellphones), unless they are somehow doing a really updated version of “Tecmo Bowl”, but, if it was really cool 3d graphics and stuff, it really wouldn’t be “Tecmo Bowl” anymore.

Bo Jackson is unstoppable

Yes, ESPN does video games, not only columns about them, but they show people playing John Madden football. That’s right folks, too lazy to play cards or not have any friends, ESPN. Can’t get your fat ass off the couch to pick up that PS2/Xbox 360 controller, not to worry, ESPN will also show people having fun playing video games so you don’t have to.

  1. As impressive as Bo Jackson was on Tecmo Bowl, Christian Okoye on Super Tecmo Bowl was unstoppable. The only defender that could tackle the “Nigerian Nightmare” was the one controlled by your opponent with the huge #2 or #1 floating above their head.

I guess it’s embedded in my brain, but I often secretly cycle through defenders before the snap when watching football. “b,b,b,b,b,b,b, Singletary. Yeah that’s the one. Whoo hoo, guessed his play againg!!”

I don’t know what their plans are for the new Tecmo Bowl, but they can’t beat the Madden/NCAA francise for 3D football. Hopefully, they’ll just make the original version look pretty and not charge much for it. I mean, c’mon. It’s Tecmo Bowl, the Magna Carta and bible of video game football. For you mullet head UF fans, Tecmo Bowl is Tebowian; the alpha and the omega.

  2. Hilarious video.

I am going to preview the Geightors on Monday
