We have been “embellishing” the Athlon Top 25 because we need a football fix. Sorry, Athlon is all we got right now. We are waiting on Phil Steele’s preview [Feel Steel]. He seems to be the only guy that gets it right.

Coming up next week is a Florida preview and not to far away is an SEC preview.
I realize these are preseason rankings and that they will change, but it’s nice to see where the teams stand, plus it’s something to do in the off season!

Things I hate: Soccer ball car magnets, “sales” at Kohls, Fans of any college football team that doesn’t know who their team’s 3rd string quarterback is, and preseason rankings.
What a huge waste of time it is investing any attention towards these articles. I will look at them just to see how far off the authors are about the team their reporting on just to humor myself. It’s real simple: there are only 3 maybe 5 teams that have a shot at a MNC. The rest, teams ranked 6-25, are all equally average. Actually, I’ll give teams ranked in the top 7 and edge over the rest.
I see there are 3 tiers: The top 3, teams 4-7, and then 8-25. People who brag about their team being 11th in the final poll over another team being ranked 22nd is dumb. Both of you are irrelevant, so shut up. #1 is all that matters, period. If your team wins the conference title, that gives you a little bragging rights over the other teams in your conference, but that’s it.
I wish rankings of any type would not come out until the first week of November. Not until then does anyone really have an idea of how good a team is. Then again, it still wouldn’t matter. If your not one of the top 5, just hush and enjoy the tailgate.
