We have a series

Thank God!

We have a series.

All of a sudden both conference finals have absorbed some sought after intensity and I bet David Stern would gladly kiss Utah and Cleveland on the ass right now for turning the most banal conference finals into something worth while.

What a performance by Lebron James. I hate to say this because I’m a firm believer in the Jordan>James theory, but he was Jordan-like last night.

From draining highly-contested fade-away jump shots at opportune times, to posterizing Rasheed Wallace with a mammoth dunk in 4th quarter, to the number on his back. It was Jordan vs. the Bad Boys, 16 years later.

The only thing missing was Dennis Rodman and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Cleveland’s 88-82 victory over Detroit, not only made the NBA playoffs something to get excited about again, it liberated Lebron James from basketball hell. Just think about it for a second. If he got ripped a new one for finding an open man, how bad would the thrashing be if Cleveland was swept.

Every single sports television program in the country would take Lebron by the balls and twist as hard as they could and wouldn’t let up until someone was crowned champion. If you think I’m kidding, just picture ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith spitting all over the analysts just to hear himself talk, just salivating at a chance to tear into a depleted all-star.

I’m not kidding (I wish I was).

But in a game Lebron tagged as “the biggest of his life”, he scored 32 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and tallied nine assists. I mean, I guess they could bitch at him for not getting a triple-double. I bet Stephen A would. But what team did he play for again? Idiot.

The fact is Lebron James rose to the occasion. He stepped up like a leader. He won like a super-star.

But he didn’t do it by himself. As much as a loathe most of Lebron’s supporting cast, they actually played pretty well last night. In game two, Drew Gooden, Zyldrunas Ilgauskas, and Larry “spare” Hughes combined for 11 points. Last night, they combined for 34 points, and Hughes only played 22 minutes after spraining his left foot.

I don’t know if it was just getting out of Detroit (’cause Cleveland ain’t no picnic) but something changed in last 48 hours.

As far as Detroit, not so good.

Rasheed Wallace led Pistons with 16 points and Chris Webber scored 15 to keep Detroit close. But Detroit just didn’t have the fire power in the 4th quarter that they did the previous two games.

Yea, that. Or they just flat-out had no answer for Lebron James.

If Cleveland wants to make their first appearance in the NBA finals, they better pray it’s the second one.

Because you can bet Detroit won’t be flat Tuesday night.

did you notice Tony Parkers Desperate Housewife, Eva Longoria, was wearing the same light blue colored shirt that the Jazz passed out to the fans on Saturday? (No…it didn’t say Jazz, but you could hardly tell) What was SHE thinking??? I would have to say Eva is the biggest NBA groupie to hit the building since Madonna followed Dennis Rodman
