Anyone else notice that WVU and Louisville are not on this list? Of course, to the classy BE fan, Cowherd is a ‘shock-jock’ and must be ignored. I think that he is a voice in the wilderness speaking out against the Big East.
Tuesday, the SEC’s Champion and scourge of the B-List BCS Big East Conference revealed his “Top Ten College Football Programs of the past decade” list [Listen to the podcast]:
10. FSU – Reasoning: “stink now, 45-5 to start the decade.”
9. Auburn – Reasoning: “incredibly consistent, lot of NFL guys, lot of quality wins.”
8. Oklahoma – Reasoning: “5 double digit winning seasons, and a national title.”
7. Michigan – “more wins than Oklahoma, bt not enough quality wins, in fact Michigan has the third most wins, but losing to their rival, losing bowl games, not putting enough guys in the BFL. Sorry you get docked for that.”
6. Texas – “lotta wins, but take Vince Young – one player out of Texas and how many wins does Mack Brown have? Remember before VY became a star? What was the book on Mack Brown – couldn’t win the big game, struggled in bowl games, struggled against Oklahoma. Too dependant on Vince Young for their big wins.”
5. Miami – “Go back ten years that was the best college football program in America. Now they stink.”
4. Florida – “I think they have a better coach, better momentum, 5 Ten win seasons one national title, and if I’m considering everything last ten years current momentum gives them an edge over Miami, Urban Herban may be the best coach in the country.”
3. USC – “horrible to start the decade, just abysmal, .500 in the PAC-10 which is essentially the PAC-1 with 9 other guys carrying luggage.” Old Les Miles is a prophet.
2. Ohio State – “Now a lot of people think they should be #1, and I would have them number one if they had beaten Floridabecause they’ve got a lot of good wins and they only have one bad year, but again, the Big Ten is over hyped and overrated.”
1. LSU – “Won a national title, rises to the occasion, plays tough schedules in the hardest conference and consistently wins. Crushed Miami, Oklahoma, in the biggest spot light, rises to the occasion.”

Here is the winning percentage over the last 10 years
Texas (.778) 1 NC

Georgia (.762) 0 NC
FSU (.756) 1 NC
Virginia Tech (.754) 0 NC
Florida (.746) 1 NC
Tennessee (.746) 1 NC
Oklahoma (.742) 1 NC

I’ve got to think that Georgia cracks this list certainly over Oklahoma, right? Probably over Auburn? And my Buckeyes have been good, but not #2 on the list good. In the last decade we’re talking about John Cooper’s legacy of worthlessness with the mixed bag of Tressel ball. I’d have been happy with us on the list, but not #2 – that’s almost embarassing as it feeds the “rumors” that Ohio State fans and (ahem) alumni (Colin) are blind and stupid.
As if I needed another reason to think Cowherd is an idiot who just looks for publicity, here comes another one.
Can someone explain to me how it works AGAINST Texas to have had Vince Young? Didn’t Brown have to recruit and mold him as a player? Didn’t they beat a team NOBODY really thought they’d beat for the NC? This “take out one player” argument is so asinine. Hells bells, take Magic off the Lakers and they win 0 titles. Take Bird from the Celtics – ditto. And so on.
Many, many teams have had a trancendent player and NOT won a damn thing.
Cowherd is such an idiot. And I guess I’m one too for letting more of his mindless gibberish get to me….
Texas wins ten games every year, even in their let down year last year with a new QB, they were in contention for the NC game until McCoy goes down. OU was cheating and TX beat USC in a home game to win the NC. More top five and top ten picks then anyone else this decade. LSU is okay, but come on….
