Spurrier tells Herban Meyer: You are my Katie Couric
In a crystal clear message that was obviously meant for a young turk in Gainesville, the Old Ball Sack Coach showed Herban Meyer and the liberal media that he can “turn it on” anytime that he chooses. (thanks for the tip and writeup Thomas)
Tommy Tuberville, Joe Paterno and Bob Stoops should be ashamed. They only wield discipline in their respective programs to gain the favor of the drive-by media, but their selfishness comes at the cost of the players.
There will be no more moral victories and no more marginally talented players for South Carolina, as Spurrier installs Gator discipline.
Remember the South Carolina football recruit that was stabbed after a fight in late June? Well, apparently the Old Ball Sack Coach is tired of moral victories. The same recruit, Quinton Richardson was busted for sweet stinky weed possession last night.
(Columbia) – USC freshman defensive lineman Quintin Richardson has been suspended indefinitely from the team, following his arrest on a marijuana possession charge.
Around 7 p.m. Friday night, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department
responded to a call of shots fired at Hunter’s Green Apartments. When they arrived, four individuals were found around a car. An investigation found that one man, Richardson, had marijuana in his pocket. Richardson was arrested for possession and taken to the Richland County Jail.
It’s about ‘high’ time that Spurrier does something to install the killer Gator mantra in this team. This is the classic blueprint of Florida’s success:
- Only recruit the highest profile players
- get them hooked on the sweetest/stinkiest weed and let them play ball
- all the while hoping you have enough booster club funds to bribe the criminal justice system as to not prosecute the ‘keeper’ recruits.
Has the Old Ball Sack Coach has adopted Meyer’s technique of freeing up scholarships from recruits that just don’t “cut it”? Is he ‘cutting bait’ by allowing them get arrested by the Po-Po and so he can send them packing to a 1-AA school like U-Conn or South Florida.
Spurrier had been using the old school technique of failing to qualify academically to rid his roster of less talented players. But that just takes to long to free up scholarships for more talented and deserving recruits waiting in the wings to become Cocks. One can see that even it does take a bit longer, it is still effective extrication tool.
So is Quentin Richardson a keeper recruit? We just won’t know until we see Spurrier’s next move. Until then, compare how Meyer handled his last two offenders: Gator Brandon James (a running back) who actually purchased weed from an undercover narc, is still on the Gator roster with a one game suspension. Running back is a weak area for the Gators, James is an obvious a keeper for Meyer. Remember OL Ronnie “the Rifleman” Wilson of AK-47 fame? Kicked off of the Gator squad for a year. A keeper? Not this year, one of Florida’s strengths is Offensive Line. The Rifleman will be back next year when he is really needed. See? It is not very hard concept to grasp.
It should be interesting to watch the gamesmanship between these two larger than life coaches as they continuously try to outmaneuver each other in the media.

So…You are seriously saying that Urban arranges to get his own players busted to free up scholarships?
Did you eat paint chips as a youth?
