What isn’t the OB-GYN telling your female readers?? Should we get checked out before watching any Big East Conference football??
I f Abarclay gets checkd, I wanna watch.. She is hot
The above comment is definitely a way to pick up a chick. Nice job dood. And I’m not sure how I feel about your declaration that the big east is now the Rodney King of LWS. Half of me says: “Cool, now they can leave us the fuck alone.” But the other half of me says “Fuck that, time for us to do something and get back to being at the top of the hated podium.” Humm. Must come up with something …. ahh fuck it, someone will get arrested for buying scalped tickets or a bag of Gold Medal Flower and you’ll hate us again.
But in the meantime, I’ll just bask in our mutual agreeance. Though agreeing with you kinda feels like wearing someone else’s underpants, I totally agree with you, Jai.
There is more contact from Ms. Smith’s 3rd grade class playing dodgeball than there is in Big East football.
this pretty much got ignored when posted with the other set of comments………
probably get ignored again though, but, fuck it:
—-Let’s review the Big East’s stellar 2006/2007 5 and 0 bowl record:
_ UL beats Wake Forest in the most unattractive BCS bowl games to date. The worst Orange Bowl for as long anyone can remember. When Orange Bowl officials found out who they got for their premier game, a collective, “awww, shiiiaaatttt…” leaked from the board room.
shouldn’t this be more of a knock on the acc? the big east did its job in fielding a competitive team, while the venerable acc fielded a team that won a game of field goals (to speak of futbol).
how exactly is this either the big east or louisville’s fault?
- The cute Rutgers story of the year put them in the Texas Bowl against Big 12 (7-6) powerhouse, Kansas State. Rutgers, the Big East runner-up, wins 37 – 10. Aww. It’s their 1st ever bowl win in 137 seasons played. How cute.
they did beat texas……..
but again, isn’t this more a commentary on the weakness of the big 12? the big east, yet again, fielded a competitive team. their conference opponent did not.
rutgers was also not the big east runner-up. they tied for that slot and took third bidding because of losing the head-to-head match-up.
- WVU, the big east #3, sneaks into the Gator Bowl and “destroys” GT 38-35. Ironically, that’s the same score they “destroyed” UGA with. “Destroy” is taught in WV public schools as a term to describe winning by any margin. WVU fans will not say that South Florida “destroyed” the mountaineers 24-19 in Morgantown, but, whatever.
yet again, the big east did its job in fielding a competitive team…….
one without the services of steve slaton (3 carries), and with pat white also being banged up. yet it managed to pull out a win. but at least the acc managed a respectable opponent here, however, for a change.
no one says wvu “destroyed” tech here, but even though the end score was the same, the georgia game progression was much different……….
i think when your offense runs the score up on a team so badly that your defense is playing prevent in the *2nd quarter* (which consequently allowed the other team to come back), and where the team tries to coast on first half scoring alone (and could nearly have succeeded on it), that probably qualifies as a ‘destruction.’
- Now here’s where the big games start. Big East #4, South Florida, faces the juggernaut East Carolina from C-USA. This was a game for the ages with South Florida winning the Papa John’s Bowl 24-7. Papa John’s gave both conferences $100,000 worth of liquid garlic butter and those mini end tables used to keep the pizza box from being brushed into the cheese.
east carolina had a good, competitive team, regardless of what conference they were in. so did south florida.
and if south florida beats auburn this year, what will we hear from you? i’m just curious………… based on the pattern of logic presented here, it will further cement your belief in the inferiority of the big east conference.
- Cincinnati (8-5), Big East #5, played the scrappy Western Michigan Broncos in Toronto in the International Bowl. I actually watched this whole game. I don’t know why, other than I must have been sick and the batteries on the remote must have been dead. Ironically, this was a good game. Kinda like how you can go to a high school football game and see a good game. Cincinnati came out to a 24-0 lead and eventually won the contest 27-24. Now that’s football.
not a marquee matchup, but then, it wasn’t really supposed to be…….
maybe it would’ve been better though had they played in boise, and required the assistance of the referees to pull out a win against a wac also-ran.
cincinnati was a bottom half of the conference team, yet they played, i believe, 5 teams ranked in the top 10 at one point in the season, and hung with all respectably and even beat one. some of that may need corrected or clarified (it’s late, or early), but, what more are you expecting from a conference number 5 anyway?
-So, the Big East’s 2006/7 bowl opponents were Wake Forest, GT, Kansas State, East Carolina, and Western Michigan. Wake Forest is the only team in the bunch to finish ranked in the top 30 with an 18 in the AP poll and 17 in the Coaches poll.
again, doesn’t this sound like more of a premise for a critique of *other* conferences, namely the acc, than it does of the big east? the big east has taken care of business, and done nothing to earn its criticisms other than win its bcs match-ups. meanwhile, the acc, which was supposed to be the superior conference, has failed to demonstrate that on the field.
in fact, they are very close to the bcs’ purported “big east rule” regarding the ranking of conference champions at the end of the season……….
so, will we hear a similar screed from you sometime regarding a demonstrably inferior conference?
or, do they get a pass for potential? or maybe because they’re primarily dixie?
-Eer fans really seem to believe that since ESPN is broadcasting some of their games that an ESPN broadcast means that their opponent is tougher. Somehow rationalizing that ESPN broadcasts means that their strength of schedule is increased……Grasping …at……straws….Eers… Reality is that all of the television broadcasts are just part of the contract between the Big East and ESPN.
Reading on through the message board thread, Eer fans posted super smart comments like “Michigan sucks” and the “Big Ten is mediocre”. To be honest, I agree with the Eer comments. I just happen to think that WVU sucks more than Michigan does and that the Big East is overhyped conference because of the ESPN contract. Am I flaming? Yes I am, but I can back it up. Check this data because the numbers don’t lie:
this is completely backward……… espn spent a couple years relentlessly dogging and shit-talking the big east to *lower* the conference’s prestige and make their upcoming contract with the big east much more cost efficient for themselves. so the big east had been *underhyped* as a result of positioning for that contract.
now that the big east games have been drawing for them, any “hype” on espn’s part (which is questionable, but you can’t convince people who think anything about espn) has been an effort to gain even more revenue for themselves……. but they don’t really have to hype these games anyway, people enjoy watching them.
consequently though, the contract has been reworked.
and as well, not *all* of the tv broadcasts are part of the contract with espn. and being shown on espn or espn2 is another dynamic…….
as well, this:
-Wow again. The Big East big four are below .500 with a 9-10 record against ranked opponents the last 2 seasons. Hellfire, they only have 8 teams in the conference as compared to 10-12 in the Big Boy conferences. They should be better overall from a mathematical perspective, but they aren’t. The moral of this story is that you can only shine the Big East turd so much. And turds don’t shine real bright.
why should the big east be better off from a mathematical perspective anyway? that doesn’t make any sense……..
explain the “logic” there……. and your math.
i’ll assume the numbers on ranked opponents are true, but probably not………

This is your opinion. There is no way that you can back this up.. here is a bit of good news for Big East fans, we have a WVU dood that wants to powerproject the conference from the blog. He hopes to have his first post up on Friday. He posts at the BnG, named AngryEer. Should be good times, Mountain Momma

conversely, wasn’t your shit opinion? i realize that’s the underlying premise of a blog, but you like to dress a lot of this shit up as fact as well, and that seemed to be one of those items…….
however, it’s not an opinion, per se, that espn completely dogged the big east out just after miami left, and when tech and b.c. were scheduled to take off as well. this was more than a two-year process of completely being shat on, and not without some merit. no one knew what was going to go down. but ostensibly, some of that i’m sure had to do with positioning themselves for a renewed contract. there was *zero* positive press then from them, and any since, the big east has had to *earn* and couldn’t rely on by reputation alone like ‘certain conferences’ do.
even now, espn personalities are pissing on the conference daily, through radio, television and print. i’m not sure where you think all this espn manjuice for the big east is coming from, but i also realize that every team’s fans seems to think espn hates them and loves those they themselves love to detract. so it’s usually pointless to argue about espn
a lot of that other shit was not really my opinion though. i hope somebody addresses it……….
i also post on bgn, i don’t know ‘angryeer.’
guessing you just picked the least articulate yokel who offered so you could have him do some of your work for you………….
not that i might not’ve considered the same, but that shit would be lazy, and probably wouldn’t add anything………
we’ll see.
He says that he can do you boys right. He writes for the school paper…You are correct, Cowherd sees that the BE is turd…my bad
ok.
about the other shit now…………
