Ainge not in Top 10 players in SEC, per si.com

The NFL scouts are drooling over Erik Ainge.  He is a legitimate’ 6’6″+ & 225+, great arm, quick release, amazing vision, clutch player, tough and mobile in the pocket [SI sucks Gator dinkers].Simply put: Ainge is the best Quarterback in the nation! He plays against the best teams in the nation, in the toughest conference!

  • He has beat Georgia twice, ‘Ainge owns Richt’.
  • He’s beat Alabama twice, but who hasn’t done that.
  •  He’s beat Spurrier’s and Holtz’s South Carolina teams in Columbia (another so-what?)!
  • He is the last UT QB to beat Florida, leading three amazing scoring drives late against the Gators, in a comeback win in 2004, and who can forget the premature Gator Chomp in 2006?
  • He has beaten the media darling Andre Woodson head to head and has two wins over Kentucky,
  • we were beating the living fuck out of  then  #9 Cal 35-0 when Fulmer put in the reserves just last year.

This kid is groomed for winning games, completing passes, managing a running game, makes EVERY throw, moves the chains, plays poised and intelligent and just wins! Last year he led us to 30 points/game in 8-9 games. His body and his body of work will make him a very high draft pick next year, ’cause he ‘keeps getting better’ and you ‘can’t teach’ his size, his arm strength or his vision.  Plus he knows Peyton Manning!!

Harvin (and Tebow) may prove to be special…may prove to have talent and staying power…but right now they do not deserve this sort of recognition. We all agree that  Harvin may be good, but bottom line is that he played a limited role in a simple offense on a team loaded with playmakers. I don’t know if that merits the listing of him as a top-10 current SEC player. If that is the case, them we might as well put Eric Berry at #9 on that list if we’re just using “potential” as the criteria.

These clowns in Gainesville get enough hype without annointing dudes who’ve hardly played with Heismans and SEC Player of the Century honors.

  1. That Tennesse (as in the outline) is as fucked up as anybody who thinks Andre Woodson is a better QB than Ainge. I really think they need something into QB rating about how many times you get sacked. Andre Woodson spent half his time on his back last year.

But Seriously, it’s your state map… you gotta get that right.

  2. what? in the picture?

  3. Bigfoot, that’s what tells me that Woodson is the better QB…

He spent half the year on his back and another running for his life and still put up the best numbers in the conference…

    As I have said before…

The difference between Woodson and Ainge is…

Ainge is made better by those around him…

Woodson makes those around him better…

  4. Hippy

Has anyone checked UK’s OOC schedule? Oh wait, let me change that, he has Randy Sanders, maybe he is the best if he can overcome that

  5. Ainge suffers from the same anti-hype virus as David Greene did at UGA. Greene had the better record and SEC title, but he was just as underappreciated as Ainge has been.

    Why?
1- Neither of them are pretty boys (Brady Quinn).
2- Both of them played for SEC teams. A conference known for defense and running. You know….. The things teams do that play great football.
3- Neither of them will ever have the oppotunity to thrown for 400 yards a game like some jackass at Texas Tech or Boise State.

As a UGA fan I know enough about Ainge to know he’s a good QB. He may be a better pro prospect than Greene and he has this season to raise his stock. For the article mentioned, the top 10 players in the SEC, it’s not too much of a slap in the face considering how uber talented the SEC is.

But, yeah, no one outside of the southeast know much about Ainge like they should. He needs to get caught smoking pot or point an AK47 at someone. Seems to build the hype machine in Gunsville.

  6. you don’t think ainge is pretty?

  7. Jai

    UK’s OOC wasn’t many notches below UT’s last season…

UK: Louisville, TX St., C. Mich., LA-Monroe, Clemson (bowl win)…

    vs.

UT: Cal, AF, Marshall, Memphis, PSU (bowl loss)…

Perhaps more telling is the fact that Woodson actually had better games against in SEC teams than OOC…

While Ainge wasn’t even available due to injury at the end of the season…

Toughness goes along way in leadership…

    Woodson is just better…

  8. good post hippie. I told those dumb bastards at the UTAD we needed to load up on teams like WKU, FL atlantic and Troy. All I got was a the middle finger

  9. Well, they must have took your suggestion into consideration, Jai…

As the UT OOC for 2007 includes S. Miss, Ark. St., LA Lafyette…

  10. USM = Troy?

  11. For the most part…

Troy = Conference champ, bowl winner, and winning record in 2006…

SMU = Conference runner up, bowl winner and winning record in 2006…

But are you really trying to cut a fine line between two second tier D1 conferences…

There isn’t much difference between the two…

  12. And isn’t the discussion here Ainge and whether he merits mention as a top ten SEC player…

  13. Good catch Hippie, You were like an airplane in a uncommanded left hand turn. Yes Anige should be in the top 10

  14. LOL, Jai…

Doubtful he should be in the Top Ten…

But I’d give him an honorable mention…

  15. However..

I also agree with your mention of Harvin not deserving to be there on that list…

There are other players that deserve to be there other than Harvin…

    Just not Ainge…

  16. give me some other names

  17. Off the top of my head…

    Early Doucet, LSU…

    Kenny Irons, AU…

    Andre Caldwell, UF…

    Trey Blackmon, AU…

    Simeon Castille, Bama…

  18. Simeon Castille, Bama? Is he cleared to play after his game of grab assing at 2 AM?

  19. He plays in the SEC doesn’t he?

  20. Kenny Irons plays for the Bengals now. I am sure that is just a small detail though.

  21. Oops…

    My bad…

    Like I said…

“Off the top of my head…”

  22. Jim Bob Cooter

  23. Pregnant awkward pause, LL

  24. Top 10 players in the SEC

    Darren McFadden
    Andre Woodson
    Darren McFadden
    Glen Dorsey
    Darren McFadden
    Erik Aigne
    Darren McFadden
    Earl Bennet
    Darren McFadden
    Quenten Groves

I think that about sums it up.

  25. “Simeon Castille, Bama? Is he cleared to play after his game of grab assing at 2 AM?”

    Unfortunatly yes.

  26. Jai, I don’t think that Ainge should be on the list. But along with that, I don’t think Harvin should be on the list either.

If it was a Top-15 list, Ainge would have made the cut.

  27. concerning Andre Woodson, was Tee Martin a better QB than Peyton? Following your rationale, he certainly was.
