Let them be. Country roads is one of West Virginia’s (the state) unofficial state songs, Marshall is just as much located within the state as WVU so they have just as much of a right to play it was the WVU marching band does.

If WVU wasn’t in one of the shittiest BCS conferences in the country they wouldn’t be in the position they are. Put them in the SEC or Big 12 and they would be eaten alive.

Oh yeah, if WVU would have been brave enough to play Marshall between 1999 and 2003, Marshall would have kicked their asses.

Secondly, If one of those 300 times you’re singing country roads on your way to a WVU game, just stop for a moment… and listen to the words of the song. Everything John Denver talks about in that song… listen to it all… because NONE OF IT…. is in WEST VIRGINIA. It’s all located… in WESTERN VIRGINIA…… So go on thinking that a man actually wrote a song about this fucked up state, and get over it. And for All the WVU fans who were shitting their selves for half of the game @ Marshall… Because Marshall dominated your non-defense having football team. And then at the end of the game…. all the WVU Fans talking about how Marshall was a High School football team, all your saying is your big bad #3 ranked team in the nation got knocked down a notch in the poles, because of a High School team.. can’t wait for the Louisville game. If WVU can’t stop Marshall’s passing attack…. it doesn’t stand a chance against Louisville.
