The LWS Player of the Week….

This week’s player who brought the wood: Matt Grothe, QB South Florida

I was tempted to go with Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, but in the end Grothe impressed me more with his poise in an overtime victory against #17 Auburn. The numbers weren’t outstanding (18-27, 184 yards, 1 TD) but they came at the right time with the lone touchdown pass being the game-winner on the last play of the overtime period. Not an easy task, especially against an SEC team, at night, in their home stadium. The sophomore also added 31 yards and a score on the ground for rising program South Florida, who has beaten a ranked opponent each of the last 3 years. Grothe has All-American type of potential and if Jim Leavitt’s team can keep finding ways to win the big games, you may see his name on a few Heisman lists in the coming future.

I don’t care what conference you play in. If it’s a team from Florida with the Florida pipeline of talent, it’s a threat. I don’t know if people outside of the south can distinguish that..I’m looking at you douch’eer..it’s the same reason, I wouldn’t put it past ucf, fiu, whatever. taking out wins by florida teams, or teams heavily populated by florida kids (Rutgers), what’s the record?

I agree Jmuthaf’nT. With all the talent in Florida, it’s hard NOT to field a competitive team no matter the conf. Just ask L’ville, Rutgers, and W.Va, I’m willing to bet that they have more people from Fla on their starting offense & defense than than have people from the state! Anywho, hats off to So. Fla, they played hard and made the plays they needed. Get ready and kiss Leavitt goodbye. Go Gators!!!

If that USF coach can slim down, he would be a good fit in Knoxville

    Really, Eer…

Instead of gushing about a BE team beating an SEC opponent…

You might want to start worrying about what’s gonna happen when the MousketEers head down to Tampa…

How bout Delbert the kicker. I can’t remember his last name because I started laughing and couldn’t continue to read his last. I think they would have lynched that cat in Tampa is USF had lost.

Seeing these USF guys play makes me want to go to Tampa to see them in person. Bah, who am I kidding I’d never make it past Mons Venus…

I heard Mons isn’t as good as it was ten years ago…

    Any truth to that?

I don’t think he is ever going to leave South Florida… He invented football there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Florida_Bulls_football

The kicker looked like he played for Florida last year or something

Dunno hippy, I was last there in 1997 for my bachelors party. It was mind blowing. First LD was with a hotty who fucking wreaked of body odor, it was a bitter sweet – not the odor so much as the moment… Unfortunately for my best man – I was like Pac Man Jones with his money.
