The majority of the teams in front of us are more flawed than WVU. Anyone that thinks that this past weekend won’t repeat itself at least once more this year is just ‘wide stanced” and tattered windsock mistaken.
I can’t help but think that every team in front of us will lose at least one game this year. LSU can stay undefeated this year for all I care..all we need is the number two spot. After this weekend, look where tOSU is and 2 weeks ago they looked AWFUL against AKRON!
USC needs to lose twice…period. One loss won’t drop those overrated hacks enough. You read that correctly, I just called USC overrated. Along the same subject lines, UF will be a non issue after LSU deals with them and double for UK. The Sooners deserved to drop more and hopefully Texas will take care of that. In my opinion this will be our most important game if we have a prayer. OU plays NO ONE this year and likely would play mighty Nebraska in the Big 12 CG. Texas winning won’t overcome the loss against KSU.
USF will lose at least one game this year. Their defense is stellar, but their offense was shut down for much of our game and I think Rutgers and Cincy could at least match our Defense and not hand them 6 TO’s. That’s not sour grapes…it is what it is.
The Big 10′s spoiler will be Michigan. They look much better now and have a huge chip on their shoulder. They will help us out this year at least once. Wisconsin is the worst top 5 team ever…I’m not even thinking about all the different ways they can lose 2-3 games.
Long post short…we need to win. Being an optimist, we found a great new WR (Lyons) that has to have some confidence after being canned up for 2 years. Jarrett Brown will start against Syracuse (at least) and will be more of our regular offense from here on in…he’s earned it. Making some new faces take the reins will help us as this year goes on. These guys will diversify our offense is a way that wouldn’t had happened if we hadn’t have lost this game. Our ranking would have been better off with a win, but our ability to compete with an LSU or USC will be helped by this loss. It’s a marathon…not a sprint.

Maybe you’d get in if you didn’t schedule all your OOC games against teams in the Hellen Keller conference. The big east is stronger than the ACC this year, I’ll give you that, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s as strong as the Big 12, PAC-10, or SEC. High 5′s all around!
The only way WVU gets into the BCS Title game is if: A) It is one of only two 1-loss teams left -or- B) There is one undefeated team, a 1-loss WVU team, and everyone else in the nation has 2 losses or more.
So basically, it’s not going to happen. High-5s all around! Wooo! Kiss your sister! Hootnanny!
Most voters would be inclined to put a 2 loss LSU or Florida team in there before West Virginia.

The sad thing for ‘Eers fans is they aren’t going to ever have this chance again. Actually they will next year, because no one in the NFL would want Pat White or Steve Slaton.
2009 National Championship for the Mountaineers “High 5′s All Around!”
I’m not even sure about 2009, with LSU and Florida still being stockpiled with young talent on both sides that is getting plenty of playing time this year. And I think I’m drinking the “Juice” Williams and Jake Locker Kool Aid. WVU will probably win the Big East next year but I just don’t see a national title.

As disheartening as watching South Florida smack the Tony Manero-strutting-to-Stayin’ Alive swagger out of West Virginia’s offense had to be for Mountaineers fans, it wasn’t the only concerning thing to come out of last Friday’s loss. When quarterback Pat White (above) suffered a bruised thigh in the second quarter and simply stood watching from the sideline as WVU’s national-title hopes take a huge hit, it was reminiscent of 2006′s loss to Louisville (also the first of the season) when Steve Slaton sat out with a sore left forearm while the Cardinals took control. Dare I question their character? The Blitz wouldn’t want to rile up Mike Gundy or anything, but the fact is that in two big, emotionally charged games the slightly (White is listed generously at 185 pounds, Slaton at 195) and oft-injured slashers just haven’t proved durable. It’s the only thing we haven’t seen out of these ultra-talented ‘Eers.”

alas, i have the perfect scenario for the eers to win the MNC.
1. go buy playstation college football
2. order up a couple pizzas and a six pack of soft drinks (no beer…b/c you’ll need your wits for this one)
3. play all weekend long and have cyber-morgantown fantasies, because that’s the closest your second-tier program will get to playing for the MNC, let alone winning it.
