A source within the Gator Bowl Association which hosted the Bama – FSU game last weekend and leaked to LWS that they’re trying to set up another nice match-up for FSU in 2008. They offered WVU and Rutgers the opportunity (both had open vacancies that could have been worked out) but both refused to play FSU in 2008.
The Gator Bowl Association also offered three “big time” SEC programs (all SEC teams are considered “big time”) and all three also refused to play(not UF, FSU already plays). The three SEC programs have not been named, yet. They were also hoping to get Notre Dame but they have a legit conflict. Now, I’m not trying to knock the Big East because I don’t have anything against the conference or their teams personally. BUT, BUT…
I hear on this blog A LOT, and I mean A LOT from ***some*** fans of the major contenders in the BE that their OOC is weak because “no one wants to play us” despite the fact they try to get good OOC games. Well…
Two of the BE’s elite programs, Rutgers and WVU flat out refused to play FSU next year. Along with 3 SEC teams but we don’t know who they are, yet.
I find it odd WVU refused to play considering the fact that FSU is going to have a home-and-home scheduled with them in a few years.

can you imagine the shock of wv fans coming down here and seeing girls with teeth that aren’t carting around a couple spare tires? The next funniest thing would be watching them try to pick up an fsu chick and getting rejected and state girls are the friendliest ones down here.
WVU refused to play because the game would have left them with 6 home games for two straight years. Rodriguez actually addressed this at a press confereence and stated that if the money was enough to offset the loss of revenue then they would have played. This happened over the summer. Since then WVU picked up a home and home with Colorado and closed out the schedule for 2008.
Colorado isn’t the same as FSU or an SEC team. Good swag though. Good to you back and commenting BTW, Tummy
Anyone want to take a bet that one of the SEC schools that refused to play FSU was USC?
spurrier blows goats?
I agree that Colorado isn’t as good or held in as high regard, but they were willing to come to Morgantown the following year. FSU is trying to use Jacksonville to get teams to come in for a one game “neutral field” site and for northern teams it doesn’t make financial sense or help their fans. It’s really similar to the old days of “power” schools not giving others 1 for 1s. My guess is that despite unlike most of this site’s commentors neither Rutgers or WVU felt that they are a MAC school and wanted a return visit.
Everyone commenting on this site knows Rutgers and WVU aren’t nearly as good as a MAC School. WHOO Goo Directional Michigan!
