Observations as the Home Stretch Looms………….

  • Les Miles either has balls of steel or he is literally insane. I can’t really decide which it is. Les not only calls for trick plays…………..he calls for them when they aren’t necessary………better yet he calls for them with the game on the line. LSU is a fun team to watch, no doubt about it. Obviously the most talented team in the country….
  • Phillip Fulmer should receive votes for SEC Coach of the Year if he is able to lead this team to Atlanta. Vol fans know that this is the worst defense on the hill since 1988, and any coach that can win the East with 75% true freshman defensive backs deserves some credit. Many people want him fired, but in my opinion he has done his best job since becoming head coach.
  • Two coaches that should just put the headsets down and quietly leave town: Bill Callahan and Ed Orgeron. I don’t see any way for these guys to survive, especially Callahan. Orgeron may survive just because Ole Miss peeps still can’t admit that David Cutcliffe was the the best coach since the guy whose name is plastered on that high school stadium in which they try to play football. Callahan is just a dead man walking. Tom Osbourne is rolling over in his grave after Kansas scored 76 points on the “blackshirts”. The blackshirts? Snicker snicker. And I know TO is not dead, asshats. ***NOTE – I REPEAT I AM AWARE TOM OSBOURNE IS STILL ALIVE
  • I hate Alabama but it is good to have one of the SEC’s premier teams back to playing big time football.
  • I still think Tennessee can lose one more SEC game and make it to Atlanta. I am predicting a double whammy this weekend as UGA goes down to Auburn and the Cocks strike back against the Gators.
  • LSU kills either Ohio State or Oregon. Especially Ohio State.
  • Speaking of Ohio State, did you realize they are 0-8 against the SEC?? They don’t want any, trust me……………I was at the 96 Citrus Bowl when Ohio State basically put an NFL team on the field against Tennessee. Two words “Bill Duff”. Two more “Vols Win!”
  • Sylvester Croom is clearly the better of the two Mississippi coaches.
  • Thankfully nobody is fluffing Jeff Tedford or that South Florida coach anymore. I get sick of these flash in the pan coaches being brought up every time the Vols screw up.
  • National Championship game will be LSU-Ohio State. Oregon should be pissed that Ohio State is able to sneak back in again playing a ridiculously weak schedule.

  1. “but in my opinion he has done his best job since becoming head coach” uhhh, not buyin what you’re sellin!

  2. There’s every good chance the Luckeyes lose to Meeeshugan. That would set it up for Donald Duck to meet Curly Miles in the BCS Championship. Unless Curly folds before the greatness that is Fullup Filmer in Atlanta.

  3. I suppose Fulmer may have done his best job in about a decade this year . . .as it has been about a decade since he won any kind of championship . . . .

I think the other analyses in this post are pretty solid.

  4. I think you mean Bob Devany is rolling over in his grave. Tom Osbourne is still very much alive, but may not be much longer if nebraska keeps going like they are.

  5. Thanks for giving Alabama some props. We’re just as glad to actually be playing real football again.

  6. What did the announcers mean when they said that “teams that play against Alabama are the most most penalized in the SEC”?

  7. Homecookin’ Eer. Just like how UCONN gets the BE homecookin’.

“Fair catch? Oh, fuck it. I’ll just let him run it back.”

  8. Can’t anybody else see it? It’s not Les Miles is either ballsy OR insane. He has brass balls AND is insane. And that’s all she wrote.

  9. What people miss is that Miles had way more talent in that game – and probably every game. A team that rushed for 20 yards TOTAL led Miles with less than 3 minutes to go. That shows to discerning observers that Miles is a less-than-average coach with a loaded team.

As a sidenote, Alabama is very very average in talent – maybe less than average – and this game exposed that. But if teams with Mississippi State-level talent (which is where Alabama might be right now) can take Miles to the wall, then all of the people who think LSU will easily win out better rethink their predictions. A decent SEC East challenger that plays smart might screw LSU out of even winning the conference crown.

  10. UGA will beat Auburn, but I think will struggle with ‘tucky…

Tenn will get downed by Arkansas, and the Gators have one more loss in their book to seal the deal and finally destroy all these “what if, and who has to lose” predictions..

SEC game will be UGA vs. LSU . I’ll put my money on it.

I hate “bammers, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t get behind them. They lucked out it was so close.. More importantly, LSU lucked out in that game as well, just at the right time too.

  11. LSU was the better team – and by a good bit. Alabama has very little talent on the o-line and man did it show. But Alabama was very well prepared and made the most of what they had – a very far cry from the Shula years. Very far indeed.

But LSU cannot play so inefficiently the rest of the way and even make it to the BCS championship game . . . .

One other point: Javier Arenas is a major talent. He makes you hold your breath on every return.

  12. Just to make everyone happy, I will say this. The Ducks will play iin the BCS CG. But, you must be ready, they are going to be playing the Buckeyes, b/c LSU is loosing to Arkansas.

Mark it down, it will happen.

    Go Buckeyes!

  13. Shula didn’t need the SEC replay officials help to beat Ole Miss.

  14. You know, I don’t think I’ve seen an entire game this year that has MORE replay calls than an LSU game.

They get more reviews, and if any, more overturned and calls that go for them. Not to take anything away from them, they have a good team, and lots of great talent..

I just think Miles has spent plenty of nights gambling on the ‘boats, and uses that in him game plan. He makes the wildest calls.

I thought LSU played like shit, and quite honestly not a top tier game of theirs. Alabama had it, barely… but they threw it away.

  15. Dawg, you’re right, and I don’t know how many more times we can play that badly against quality opponents and still manage to win. I thought the Ky game would wake us up about that stuff, but we’ve done it against Fla, Auburn, and now Bama. Maybe you can call us the Alabama state champs. Still, I pity the fools who show up against us the day we bring our A game…knowing our luck, that will probably be La Tech this weekend. We haven’t played like a No. 2 team lately, but since we’re here now, at the best time of the year to be here, I hope we realize that now is the time to start peaking…we really came on in November last year, but already had 2 losses by that time. Too late, then, but not now.

I hope y’all are the ones we catch in Hotlanta, it should be a good one.

  16. Taco – you are correct. Shula didn’t need replay officials to beat Ole Miss. Unfortunately, he couldn’t beat Mississippi State and Northern Illinois.

  17. Saban hasn’t beat NIU or MSU yet at UAT.
