Tim Tebow: A profile of courage (part 1)

Since Tennessee can’t seem to beat Florida, I recommend that the Great Battle Captain Phil Fulmer move the Florida game to October or November. This will ensure the Good Guys will  only face broken QBs in Meyer’s offense. Not the HGH  inspired freaks running loose in Gunsville.

The Bow took several hits on that shoulder during the UGA game. He was in obvious pain on the Gators last drive. I would expect that he’ll play hurt the rest of the year.

When Florida first hired Urban Meyer I remember a lot of SEC experts and fans claim Meyer’s offense couldn’t work in SEC. A lot of the criticism was based on the perceived defensive speed in the conference and the physical abuse the QB would take on the season.

This season only confirms that Meyer cannot run this offense in the SEC for an entire season. On a sidenote, does anyone else think that Herban Meyer looks like the freaky guy who confessed to the JonBenet murder? Herban has those same creepy dead eyes.

Anyway, the Meyer QB life expectancy seems vindicated  thus far. Florida has relied completely on Tebow to be their QB and RB. Which is fine and good early in the season, but 8 games into the season Tebow has taken a career’s worth of hits and can’t run effectively. Now in the home stretch, Florida is trying to find someway to run the ball and teams will quit biting on Tebow’s self play-action pass which usually gives teams serious troubles. If Florida continues with this offense I really see the team wearing down and faltering towards the midpoint of every season.

“Oh, definitely,” (Drew) Miller said. “In piles people are grabbing . . . it’s just the way it is. They are trying to get any edge that they can have.

“You can’t blame them, a guy like that who makes so many plays for us, they’re going to do anything they can to get him off the field.”

Miller said Tebow never complains about the late hits and shots out of bounds.

“He never really says anything about it,” Miller said. “I’ve seen it a couple of times. Every time he’s in a pile I try to push people off and try to get him up if I’m around. We need him on this team and we definitely don’t want to see someone get hurt over something like that. I just do everything I can to make sure it doesn’t happen.”

I can never remember fans and players of other teams so blatantly wanting to see another player fail so bad as they do with Tebow.

I dunno LL, a lot of people sure did hate Brady Quinn. Lord knows I was rooting for LSU’s defense pretty hard in last year’s Sugar Bowl…

  3. “8 games into the season Tebow has taken a career’s worth of hits and can’t run effectively.”

And yet in the last two games where he was “hurt”, Timmy has still rushed for 4 tds…

While switching up the the burden and throwing for over 500 yards and 4 tds…

It would seem to me it doesn’t really matter whether he’s hurt or not…

    Tebow is effective. Period.

  4. seriously, i really thought cam newton would come in more and be ‘tebow 06.1′, that is, line up as the bulldozer in obvious goal line situations.

that hasn’t happened, maybe because newton is dinged up, or simply isn’t ready for that kind of responsibility. he is actually bigger and faster than tebow, but i’m not sure he can throw a forward pass.

at any rate, all the hate for tebow simply means that he is a helluva football player, and deep down, i think most fans of our rivals would give their left nut to have a quarterback like him.

that said, ainge, stafford, quinn, et al, are nothing to sneeze at. i just think that tebow’s enthusiasm…the way he plays football, is something that makes college football the game that it is. sure, he cried after the lsu game. but….you know what, that actually makes me respect him more. he cares…. look around the sports world, and you won’t find many superstars that bring that kind of passion every play.

so, he gets injured….so what? it’s better to play with no fear than play like a pussy. football is a contact sport. when opponents resort to cheap ass shots, pinching nuts under the pile, and grabbing and gouging, that tells me that they’re afraid of what he might do when healthy. when opposing fans berate the guy, it’s for a reason….he’s a great fucking football player. he may be the best player in the SEC since bo or emmitt.

  5. ..and yes, urban does look a bit like mark david carr……but my wife almost fell on the floor laughing when i told her george jetson coached the gators….

  6. Brady Quinn was nothing short of courageous. Tebow is right there with Brady, an indomitable spirit!!!

Hippy, you are fucked up. Who did the Gates play?

  7. Nica, Cam has been nursing a high ankle sprain since the UT game…

That’s why he hasn’t been inserted until the Vandy game…

I would look for him to start making appearances in the next few games in similiar situations to what we saw Tebow last season…

He has a package similar to Tebow’s last year but because of the injury they haven’t been able to use him…
