SEC Power Poll

The whole SEC Blogosphere poll is linked here [Garnet and Black]

Here is the F’N truth:

1. LSU Les Miles maintains his ownership of Nick Saban (2-0). My gut feeling tells me that Arkansas will be a problem.

2. Auburn…defense remains the key…they keep on and they may just land in Atlanta (with some help of course). Wingnut might take the A&M job and the Barn will stick the Bammeroids one more time. War Fucking Eagle!!

3. Florida…The Bow is banged up pretty good, it was predicted running that finesse offense in the SEC may have broken the Bow….

4. Kentucky…this team needed a breather…and with that leads me to believe they may just win out.

5. UGA…We will see how much they have really improved this week…I think they have, but I still think Auburn’s defense is too much for them

6. Alabama…Bama lost a close game to a TOP 10 opponent. They lost that game for one reason…probation. Bama will be back from this because they ARE ALABAMA…CBS Announcers provided this nugget: “Teams that play Alabama are the most penalized in the SEC”. The 100 dollar handshake is in style again!

7. Arkansas…this team is whatever McFadden wants it to be…the defense tends to give up points a bit too much…little prediction = they beat LSU and UT

8. Tennessee…leads the EAST and how it must suck to be Florida and UGA…how does that compute? simple…the greatest Battle Captain, Phillip Fulmer!

9. Miss State…this team is getting better each week. I will say it again, a prestigious pre-New Years Bowl is in the future.

10. Vandy…should have gave a banged up Florida team a better showing, but didn’t.

11. South Carolina…a team in deep DEEP regression, Think Tennessee except with a shittier defense and an healthy appetite for moral victories.

12. Ole Miss…I would really like to see this team play Notre Dame or Ohio State so that Batshit Crazy Ed could get a signature win before he is fired. Checkout the 28K on hand against NW State.

  1. Jai – unfortunatley the “f’n truth” is that the meeting between Les miles and Saban on Saturday was their FIRST EVER as head coaches – and if you had been paying attention during the game you would have certainly noticed (since CBS mentioned it multiple times) that in their previous meetings as assistants Saban won each time . . .so where did ths “2-0″ stuff come from . . .;pray tell??

I don’t think you can award “ownership” to Miles just yet, although if Les owns Saban like you loudly proclaimed Phil Fulmer “owned” him just weeks before I don’t think Les should sleep very well . . .

  2. Miles “owns” Saban, huh? I really had no idea that they had changed the meaning of “owns” to wins game despite own ineptitude because of far superior talent.

If you understand football, you would know that Saban coached the hat off of Miles.

Oh, and $100 handshakes? I seem to recall the replay booth making sure those calls were right, so Bama didn’t seem to get an advantage there.
Also, and try to stay objective on this, do you think that, instead of cheating, maybe Saban, knowing that he would be completely out-talented in big games this year, stressed that his team be disciplined and focused so as not to get penalized, thus giving some sort of advantage? And maybe Miles, who is a bonehead and knows he has the talent to coast to victory, didn’t stress things like “don’t rough the passer” and “don’t rip off your helmet on the field after I call a gimmick play on 4th and inches instead of run it down an inferior opponents’ throat.”

Oh, and also, I now understand why you should be familiar with $100 handshakes. I had no idea this blog was run by an elderly woman in Mobile who is great friends with Tee Martin.

Oh, and also, 41-17. And before you bring up the last 15 years, if we can’t be living in the past, neither should you. But if you want to, check the series record, and SEC champ records. Stings, doesn’t it?

  3. Now I’m not gonna lie, I’m a sports fan like the rest of us but when you post a picture like that, reading the article becomes secondary.

  4. That picture was taken at the Ole Miss v. La Tech game more than a month ago. At Homecoming.

Less than half that number showed up for NWState.

  5. why the f do you care about the ole miss picture? god i love florida girls

  6. Is that first pic Casino Beach in Pensacola, Jai?

This is the second time I’ve seen a photo posted that looks like either the Navarre or Pensacola beaches on this site…

    Just curious…

  7. yes the picture is worth far more than Jai’s commentary.

I like your prediction about the razorbacks, but the problem is when people start saying the hogs are gonna win they start losing. I think we can take down Tennessee, but when we pop up in the top 25 after that we’re gonna play shitty against the Croominator but still when and then LSU is gonna ram it down our throats.

  8. Bammers? here is the facts…

Alabama penalized 30 times 242 yds
Opponents penalized 52 times for 460 yds

However that is not the jaw dropper, but this is. In SEC games, first downs by penalties:

    Alabama 18 Opponents 2

  9. That’s fine, Jai, but do you think that maybe this is the result of good coaching? We were heavily penalized during both the Fran and Shula years, and now we’re not. So, could that maybe be coaching?

Remember, your team was the one getting the gift before halftime (late hit, my ass). Remember, the penalty that set up the field goal at the end of the half? You know, the field goal that was the last points Tennessee scored in the game before getting worked by a well-coached (and less talented) Bama team?

But I guess blaming the refs instead of owning up to a loss is easier, so that’s cool.

  10. no, i actually believe Bama is cheating again…

  11. Please provide concrete evidence of such cheating. Like payments to Tee Martin by a Mobile woman that get swept under the rug.

Yes, Alabama cheated. And we paid a very high price for that. I will not argue with that. However, your team has had its share of cheating as well, and I think it is insane to just spout off about your rival cheating just b/c they have enjoyed recent success. There is no evidence that Bama is paying off refs, etc.

Why is it that any of Bama’s success has to be tied to cheating? You didn’t complain about Saban cheating at LSU, so why would he turn around and cheat at Bama? Why would he need to? He is dominating recruiting right now (like getting a commit from the #1 player out of Tennessee on Monday, and soon to get #’s 2 and 3 soon) and building a program to last. Why cheat if you don’t have to?

  12. Is water wet? The bama cheats. Fact of life. The only reason they lost the replays, is cause they never got to them refs.

Somebody is filling the void left by Logan. Fear #6 yet??

  13. I don’t fear # 6, but if it happens, oh, well. I know the streak will end, and probably before 9, so I don’t really care.

But, I do love how it is just a given that Bama cheats, especially coming from an Auburn fan. I think Tubby runs a pretty clean program now except for the academics (which really probably has nothing to do with him). However, to make a blanket statement that Bama cheating is a way of life coming from an Auburn fan is hilarious due to the sheer amount of cheating scandals that AU has been a part of.

I assume you base your assertion that Bama cheating is a way of life on Bama’s past transgressions. That’s fine, and I don’t deny that there were some shady dealings. But if that’s the case, then how does AU get a pass? Why do things such as 2nd most penalized program by the NCAA and academic scandals not count, but Bama’s 2 run ins with the NCAA mean that Bama is forever a cheater? Are you saying that, b/c AU wasn’t as successful when it was cheating, that the cheating doesn’t count? For God’s sake, your University graduated a player who admitted in court that he was illiterate, and UA is a pack of cheaters?

I don’t really understand why it doesn’t go both ways, except that you are not a fan of Bama, and that makes you somehow the authority on this. Please provide more concrete reasons as to why Bama is cheating by paying the refs. I gave a very plausible answer – Saban coaching a disciplined squad – so please let me know either some concrete evidence that we paid the refs, or at least a more realistic reason than that.

  14. “Is water wet? The bama cheats.”

Hmmm…Seems I remember the Barn having trouble with some grade changing for incoming recruits earlier this season…

    Pot. Kettle. Black.

  15. Hell, here at LSU, we average 8-9 penalities at home, so 14 on the road isn’t really scandalous. Actually, we have worse times with the refs at Auburn than in Tuscaloosa. Bama made a good hire in Saban & I am confident he’ll run a clean program but would anybody really be surprised if some looney booster wasn’t already throwing money around given the carnival-like atmosphere surrounding the coming resurrection of “the nation.”

  16. Bammers invented and perfected cheating

Nobody else thinks these stats smell like dead logan?

Alabama penalized 30 times 242 yds
Opponents penalized 52 times for 460 yds

However that is not the jaw dropper, but this is. In SEC games, first downs by penalties:

    Alabama 18 Opponents 2
