Where would the Big East be if not for WVU’s play over the last 5 years? Also, it seems many in the conference from these johhny come-latelys don’t really appreciate what WVU has done for their football programs and the conference as a whole.
The Big East was a sinking ship and have been the “Atlas” program that’s stepped up and carried this conference on our broad, wide, sweaty shoulders.
As it seems, it seems like its WVU always standing to defend all things Big East while the and other teams who are attempting to elevate their games to match ours on a yearly basis. We need 2-3 yearly powers not just one year wonders replaced by other one year wonders.
Take a look at how far my mighty conference has come. Passed the Big 10, according to the chart below.

The Big East is the third highest ranked conference per SIX different computer programs. Yet the Big East has 2 2-loss teams, Cincinnati and UConn, that are ranked behind EVERY major conference 2-loss team, and also ranked behind SEVEN 3-loss teams. And 3 loss USF is not even receiving votes.
How are two teams that only have 2 losses after playing in the third best conference in the country ranked behind 2 and 3 loss Big 10 and ACC teams?
To consider the top three teams in the Big 12 superior to the ranked teams in the BE is a stretch. What have they done? NOTHING. Take a look at their powerhouse OOC schedule. The gem of the group is Illinois , followed by mighty Tulsa ! Combined they have played teams who have accounted for 44 wins and 76 losses! So far this season the Big 12 has done nothing to indicate they are superior over anyone. If we had any of the three OOC schedules below we would be castrated by our own fan base.

The BE is making strides, but we will not know until next season, at the very least, if the success by UCONN and Cinci are going to be sustained and viewed as success, or over-achievement. If they go and win bowls this year and have winning seasons next year, then I would say the BE was a far superior conference in 2007 then the Big 12, Big 10, and ACC.

I will give you that, wvu (and louisville for a short stretch) did save the Big East. But to compare your OOC schedule to any team in the big 12 and say it is superior is retarded.
Is wvu a very good team? Yes. But they are the only team in the Big East that you can say that about (especially this year). The rest of the Big East is just a bunch of middle of the road teams that are no better than the middle of the road teams from the Big 10, Big 12, ACC and the Pac 10.
The only think holding wvu from proving that they really belong as one of the top teams in the NCAA is the schedule. It is hard to gauge how good they are when all they play are a bunch of average teams. And still no wins over a ranked team this year.

Like I’ve said before, they should just take the Big East and add it to Conference USA to create a “Super” conference made up of middle-of-the-pack teams. Conference Champ gets to play in the Liberty Bowl and it frees up an at-large BCS bid for a more deserving team from a better conference.

The Big East is making huge strides and it gets better every year. Thank god Miami left and we picked up SFU = the best team in Florida.
After we kick a ranked Cincy ass tonight, destroy a ranked UCONN next week, and dominate one of the biggest rivalries in college football on Dec. 1, we will deserve the #2 spot in the BCS.
