SEC Officiating (sucks unless you’re a bammeroid)

Did anyone else see the Sarah Jessica John Parker Wilson touchdown in the Iron Bowl? What bullshit.

With the SEC office located in Birmingham. It is clear that officiating in games that there is a lack of independence, in appearance or fact, is a problem in the SEC, as well as other conferences.

I have suggested that the SEC league office publish 1) where each official is from and where they currently live, 2) what ties they have, directly or indirectly to each school. It is my understanding that the Big 10 has such a policy. For the record, similar issues about officials and independence from schools were raised by Coach Leach of Texas Tech. An official who made several questionable calls in the Texas Tech/Texas game lives in Austin, TX. Now, lets assume the official did not graduate from UT, still, the fact that the official lives in Austin would make it highly probable that a) he lives in a neighborhood with numerous UT alums, b)his family goes to Church, his kids go to school, with numerous folks associated with Texas in some fashion, c) he reads about Texas everyday in the offseason since he lives in Austin.

As a result, this individual should not be assigned to a Texas game by the Big 12 league office. IMO, the SEC officials in Birmingham need to address the issues of the SEC officiating because this is an issue that comes up every year and although I am not trying to pick a fight with the Bama fans, it seems that Alabama more often than not is at the center of the officiating controversies as opposed to the other SEC teams. In SEC games, first downs by penalties: Alabama 27 Opponents 2

In closing, clear disclosure policies by the SEC office of 1) who the officials, 2) where those officials live, 3) and thus, not assigning officials to games where there is any direct or indirect link to a school should be the policy for the SEC.

I think the Oklahoma people would be on board with such a proposal, after they got hosed in Oregon a year or two ago.

Watching the Iron Bowl with Tom “i’ll fucking kill you and eat your heart” Ritter as the head official i knew it would be a poorly officiated game. There were repeated shoves and hits after the whistle and some very poor calls that went both ways. The roughing the kicker call on Auburn was horrible, as was the roughing the passer call against Bama. Bad pass interference penalties called, then not called. The late hit where #92 went for the AU QB’s knee that wasn’t called, you could see it in his eyes on the replay, he wanted to take that kid out. It was a horribly officiated game, i guess i could lean towards saying Alabama got the benefit of most of the calls, but the one that counted most was probably the roughing the passer on Auburn’s last TD drive. Then again that QB sneak TD looked pretty damn shady since both side judges marked it at the 1/2 yardline since they knew the QB had the ball in his belly, but the back judge who can’t see shit calls it a TD.

” it seems that Alabama more often than not is at the center of the officiating controversies as opposed to the other SEC teams.”

    I wonder why that is?

Haha! What’s funny about this is the pic. The Tubby Couple has been photoshopped to be in Bama gear when in reality they are Tennessee fans and the pic was taken at the 2001 SECCG. They have come to be known as “LuLu and Junior” on some Gator sites.

    Wahhh!!!! Wahhh!!!

Bama cheats and that’s why we got our asses handed to us 41-17 by a 6-6 team. Ironically, if Bama was paying off the refs and cheating to get the calls, they would probably be a lot better than 6-6, but it’s easy to avoid things like facts when you try make your point.

Baseless accusations are better, and you don’t have to worry about proving them b/c you can just repeat them and believe them to be fact instead. The best part is, the person who actually brings facts and logical, rational arguments will eventually just leave b/c he realizes that your mind is already made up and there is nothing that can change that.

Newsflash, Jai (who still is a pussy for NEVER owning up to that 41-17 beatdown), SEC officiating sucks, period. If they really want to solve the problem, get a crew that doesn’t permanently have their head stuck in their collective asses. Bad calls happen all across the SEC, and UA/AU can only be responsible for at the most 2 games a week, so your argument holds no water.

    Bitch.

    I owned up to it

    Crosses to Bear (no pun):

    Appy State over Michigan
    Fighting Nutria over Bama
    Bama over Tennessee

It is all the same thing. My how far the Roids have fallen.

Did you know that Bammer has been bowling 3 times, courtesy of the 1-AA rule?

    Enjoy the weedeater bowl.

Jai, it takes a real UT fan to photoshop those two Vol fans into Alabama gear.

I have to say, unless the crew is the one headed by Steve ‘Man of Distinction” Shaw, I am always worried about the officiating. I agree wholeheartedly with a disclosure policy!

Despite being one of Bahr’s Boys Steve Shaw is on the up and up. Penn Wagers sucks, however.

Consequently, Shaw can’t ref any of bammers games – thus bullshit officiating. Bama’s Back! (except for in November) RTR!
