Did anyone really listen to the news conference? Nutt said he was doing this “for his family”, and he said it a couple of times actually. Think about it, giving up his “dream job”, a million dollar increase in salary, the support of the administration, I mean, he was set. But there is sooooo much other than football behind all this. Way to go Arkansas, you got your wish and got rid of your 2nd most winningest coach in school history. You got rid of a coach that turned mediocre teams into New Years Day bowl game contenders.
Who is going to want to come to coach the Hogs when they’ve all seen the flying banners and the FOIA cell phone records debacle and the way he was treated the last 2 years? Granted he did bring some on himself.
In all likelihood, Arkansas will have to find an up-and-comer (Gus come home?) with potential. I think the wack-job fans have probably scared off any big name candidates. Does this mean a shittier replacement for Nutt? Maybe not, but it would certainly be a higher risk. The only example you need is Ed Orgeron sending Ole Miss into the tank.
I think that next year Hog Fans will be screaming to bring Nutt back…..
