Cowherd and Herbstreit drop deuces on my Eers

I could not believe these two cornholes yesterday on the radio. Colin Cowherd said ” There may be only one player on WVU’s defense that could play for Georgia.”

He also said ” If it’s Ohio State and USC in the Rose bowl that will be the best game”

Herbie said ” Ohio State will not get any credibility for beating PHHHHHHHHHH West Virginia.” He actually made a noise of disgust before he said West Virginia. Don’t believe me? Listen to this crap [Podcast]

Cowherd then said, “We just need to embrace this season as the year of the one year wonders and all the big programs being one year away. Everything will be back to normal next year.

The pre season top 5 will be USC, Florida, Ohio State, LSU and Georgia. We won’t see the low tier programs next year.”

Herbie agreed. I say Fuck you, you shameless homer.

That makes me sick. Ohio State has notplayed any team of consequence all year long and then lost late in the season on their home field to an unranked team – and now Herbstreit would be upset if they were to win the national championship because it would WVU they’d beat??? He should get slapped in the mouth for that one. And he doesn’t have to worry about a lack of credibility for beating us, because they’re not going to. Man, I’ve been wanting a WVU-OSU title game, but their idiot fans are making me root against it just so they miss out on it, and get killed by USC.

I think these people are idiots, and they know they are. The problem with ESPN and most of these radio shows is the fact they no longer discuss sports objectively. There is nothing wrong with giving their opinions, it’s just the way the deliver it. They all have hidden agendas, and it’s all about ratings. The reason they try to bash us is because they know we have a large fan base they will call, email, or write the show and tune it, this gives them ratings, and some sense of accomplishment.

It’s all about saying shocking things, and the fact that they say something different every week about the same thing proves it. They don’t want to hear facts, they don’t care that WVU has only lost 3 or 4 games in 3 years. They don’t care that we smacked the might SEC Champion in the Sugar Bowl in their own backyard and then led the comeback against the mighty ACC.

Then they want to talk and say we have a gimmick offense, it doesn’t work, but then you look around and there are 15 different versions of our spread in the Top 25 alone. Yes, Herban Meyer learned the offense from Coach Rod.

They don’t want to hear why 200 coaches come to Mo’town every year to get advice and learn the basic principals of the spreak offense from the Gold Standard RRod. They don’t want to talk about how every open coaching position they all wish they could get RRod, they don’t want to talk about how the supposed “Big Boy” programs like Alabama get pimp smacked and turned down by a lowly WVU coach.

What you’re hearing now (especially from Herbstreit) is how they REALLY feel about West Virginia (or any Big East program). They don’t mind talking us up when we’re an upstart little program that’s no real threat to their traditional powers. But now that we’re a real threat to become one, their true feelings come out.

At least Cowherd is consistent — He’s always been a tool — I’ve posted on here before that he’s not worth the time spent typing his name. He’s a failure as a journalist and can only justify his existance by being inflammatory — and with us, he knows he’ll get a response (i.e. an audience).

Herbie is the worst kind — He’s basically a phony — Unless you’re name is Ohio State (or other Big 10 program) or USC, you have to take any good word he says about you with a snow shovel of salt — because once it becomes clear that you’re a real threat to his gestalt, he goes on the attack……

Herbie is one of the big reasons I hope OSU does not get to the national championship game……a one loss Big East team gets in over his one loss Buckeyes — let him chew on that until next fall….

or he can chew on this right now:

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, if any of the teams out there think that WVU isn’t very good, call our AD and put us on your schedule. That is if you got the balls….

  1. wah wah wah. who exactly who “of consequence” has W.Va. played this year?

you are having a good year, without a doubt. Boise State had a good year last year. Hawaii is having a good year this year. See where I’m going with this?

Focus your “creative writing” energies on Pitt. You seem to be overlooking them. Better hope your team is not, as it ain’t easy being number 2 this year.

  2. I understand your rant, but I don’t really think that there is that much of a seperation between Ohio State and West Virginia on paper. WVU has the most dynamic offense in the nation, most fans know that. However, their schedule isn’t that “dynamic.” Who have they beaten? Their non-conference schedule was very similar to Ohio State’s. The best teams they have beaten are Cincinnati (who is #20) and UConn (unranked). They lost to a South Florida team (albeit on the road). Look at Ohio State. Like WVU, a weak non-conference schedule. They lost at home to Illinois (#15). Their best wins were against Wisconsin (#19) and Michigan (unranked). Ohio State’s offense is nothing like WVU’s. They rely heavily on their defense. However, West Virginia’s defense isn’t that good (although they’ve had one or two excellent defensive showings).

I’m not saying that Ohio State deserves to go to the national championship game. To backdoor their way in just goes to show everyone how bizarre this season has been. As good as some other teams are playing right now (USC and Georgia for example), I don’t think anyone can really justify any 2-loss team jumping a one-loss WVU or OSU. The Buckeyes and Mountaineers aren’t that different on paper. Don’t forget about last year. Everyone just assumed that Ohio State would roll through the national title game, and it didn’t happen. If Missouri loses, the Mountaineers will be expected to dominate Ohio State.

  3. Don’t WVU fans get it? YOU HAVEN’T EVEN PLAYED ANYONE IN THE TOP 20!

  4. @2 the Eer 3-3-5 Wall is #6 in the nation. If we play the Failboats, the phrase ” sweatervest will have a tattered windsock” immediately comes to mind

  5. @3…ignorant hater. The Big10, according to computers, is the 6th best conference. The BE is 3rd best

  6. Apparently, they’re not the only ones…

    From Fiu at CFN (link):

West Virginia With Florida’s Schedule: 9-3
Wins: Western Kentucky, Troy, Tennessee, at Ole Miss, at Kentucky, Vanderbilt, at South Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida State
Losses: Auburn, at LSU, Georgia (in Jacksonville)

West Virginia With LSU’s Schedule: 9-3
Wins: at Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee, South Carolina, at Tulane, Florida, at Alabama, Louisiana Tech, at Ole Miss
    Losses: at Kentucky, Auburn, Arkansas

  7. I’m not on a Big Ten soapbox, I’m simply saying that WVU haven’t beaten anyone. You read the polls, why does the Big East not have another team in the top 20? Cincinnati and UConn have both had a nice seasons, but seriously. I’m not a West Virginia hater, in fact I wouldn’t mind seeing them win it all. I’m just trying to point out that their schedule isn’t that great. If Louisville had been the team everyone “thought” they were coming into the season, or if South Florida had kept on winning, I think that WVU would get more love. I don’t have a problem with West Virginia, but you have to admit, they often get criticized for one major reason (schedule).

  8. @6 As good as that may make a lot of us feel, it’s pure speculation. Don’t know that I would put much stock in it.

As much as I would enjoy watching someone hang half a hundred on tOSU, Buckeye fatigue has set in.

  9. I forgot one:

    7. LSU With West Virginia’s Schedule: 12-0
Wins: Western Michigan, at Marshall, at Maryland, East Carolina, at South Florida, at Syracuse, Mississippi State, at Rutgers, Louisville, at Cincinnati, Connecticut, Pitt
    Losses: None

artiger – I know it’s all speculative, I just like pointing out the fallacies in someone’s rant when warranted, with every effort toward being objective. But then I suppose he’ll question Fiu’s expertise as well, since it’s more convenient.

  10. Big East = WAC = MAC = CUSA

  11. “The problem with ESPN and most of these radio shows is the fact they no longer discuss sports objectively. There is nothing wrong with giving their opinions, it’s just the way the deliver it. They all have hidden agendas, and it’s all about ratings.”

Umm how can you talk about sports objectively? Do they need to sit on there all day and just spout off facts about sports? I tune into radio to hear speculation. I like hearing them guess about who the next Razorback coach is going to be. I don’t want to tune in and listen to them say “well no one has been named or openly interviewed yet, so we can’t say who the next football coach will be”

We listen to sports radio for subjectiveness.

  12. @10 hey the WAC > MAC = CUSA

No way you can say WAC = MAC

  13. BE>Big 12>Big 10

  14. Sunbelt>Alabama

  15. Bama>Tenn

  16. Eer,

You’re right about Cowherd being wrong. I can’t think of “ONE” UWV player being good enough to suit up for Georgia!

  17. i heard on the Tirico show:

HDN: I did not know I was leaving Arkansas after the LSU game.

HDN: I left because of the “fractured fan base in NW Arkansas”

  18. @17 how does that relate to anything we are talking about, and what is different between that and what he said during his press conference?

  19. @16, SUGAR BOWL…PWNED

  20. 3 turnovers by uga, wvu needs a fake punt to salvage blowing a 28-0 lead in order to win 38-35. Yeah, that is owned.

Anyone else want to pull history out of their closets to argue for the season at hand? Eyore you must have short mans syndrome.

BTW, never had a chance to see you justify the Tebow=Kendra logic of your storied Heisman whine fest. Isn’t there an award you could be given for that jewel?

  21. Pitt just dropped a deuce as well

  22. Eer, people are waiting for you to show your toothless, backwards ass hillbilly self. Get off of your sister and get over here.

  23. PHHHHH

  24. Wow, if you weren’t such a dick it’s be harder to laugh at you right now.

  25. Hey loser, tell me how the errrs are going to win it all. Tebow winning the heisman will simply put a cherry on the humble pie you’ll be eating.

  26. @21 thru 25. Leave AngryEer alone. he just got caught up in his team being the non(real)-BCS flavor of the yeer. you know, like Hawaii this year, Boise St last year, etc etc etc.

Eer, I guess you won’t have to worry about getting that jacket for dinner at Galatoire’s.

  27. Nah, we’ll be Christian toward the UT folks, but Eer needs a lesson! I doubt he’s learned a damn thing though. You tried to warn him at the beginning of this thread.

  28. In less than a week he will be reminding us how Slaton and White are only Juniors and they will be returning to Morgantown to get that coveted WVU degree and bring the ‘Eers a National Championship.

  29. @27–yeah you right. TN was classy and i am happy the Tigers won (as it should be). however, you and i both are aware of the uncertainties of college football and of life in general. it is one thing to needle opposing fans about silly stuff like “corndogs”….it is something completely different to be an irrational flamer and to curse out anyone who may offer something constructive…

  30. @28–you would think that Eer considers Slaton-White to be the next Renaldo Tunrbull (see if the Err knows who i am talking about)

  31. An obscure Saints reference? Wow…
