Out of the eight Big Ten teams to accept bowl bids this weekend, three of them have absolutely no chance of winning at all, two of them have a 50-50 chance, and the rest of them are playing in games that nobody will care enough to watch.
Ohio State, Michigan, and Illionois are done for. These are absolutely horrible matchups for each team. All three teams are slower (by far) than their opponents. All three teams are less athletic (by far) than their opponents. Each one of these teams will get demolished with 100% certainty. If you are a fan of one of these three schools, make the trip down to watch your team if you must, but plan some activities other than the game because it is not going to be pretty. LSU will eat THE Ohio State University alive. The Gators will probably make Tennessee’s thrashing of Michigan in the 2001 Citrus Bowl look like a nailbiter. And Illinois should just focus on having a nice Christmas.
Tennessee SHOULD beat Wisconsin, but it is far less certain. The Vols are terrible in the post season so this one is a tossup. Texas A&M and Penn State? I’d be lying if I tried to pretend like I know anything about either team.
Point is that this bowl season is going to be another black eye for the Big Ten.

I really hope this comes to pass. If tOSU lays another egg in the championship game (or “da ship,” as the LSU players were referring to it last night while describing where they were going), it will be a huge black eye on the Big Tenleven.
I don’t really think it will be a deserved black eye, as OSU really is outmatched, they haven’t really played anyone the whole year, and they backed their way into the game, but perception is reality. Another beating will make it very hard for the conference to get any respect in the immediate future (truly, as things do go in cycles, and no conference is the worst forever – see Big East, Pac 10, etc.).
What this would really hurt is that tOSU really will be a legitimate contender next year, and if we have a similar situation, they’ll get passed up unless they are the only undefeated team.
Not that this makes me feel sorry for them in the slightest.
You got to learn how to post pictures. Illinois should just focus on Christmas…you mean the computers didn’t pick Illinois for the Rose Bowl?

@3 and so it begins. Big 10 bashing has begun
Jai, hope you’re not planning on changing that avatar…it’s a classic
actually i was thinking of it. it is so 2006
Nah, don’t live in the now, think about the past! Like the Rose Bowl.
I know this will be hard for anyone here to accept, but the BCS CG is going to be a good one. First up, these two teams are a hell of a lot closer than you are going to give credit for. This would be differant if it was a spread, which we just can’t seem to stop. And yeah, we may have backed into the game, which is so much better than what LSU did, b/c they won their last game, oh yeah they backed in too. It’s ok, I wouldn’t think you were smart enough to notice that. You’re also right, we are 0-8 in bowl games against the SEC, and we are 1-0-1 against LSU, so I think that is a winning record, is it not? But it will be a good game. As for the other two, I couldn’t care less. Illinios will get beat, Juice really is going to cost his team against a much better USC team. As for scUM, they really are not that good. Just remember that, that team sucks. And for Penn State, they haven’t been that good either. I wonder how they could have been ranked so high this year. Just remember all the shit you are talking. We will go marching into your backyard, and smack you right in your mouth. Remember that. And in a little over a month, come back here and remember that you all were wrong. But I still think we will have a great game, for the first time in a few years.

@ ButtNuck
you seem really confident about OSU’ chances. How confident were you when that unbeatable badass OSU super team played Florida last year?
@ ButtNuck
I do agree with you about 1 thing. I think it will be a good game. Lately LSU has a way of making very average teams look good, which should be another moral victory for OSU.
they were suprememly confident.
I don’t know… last year it seemed to most like Florida had no chance. tOSU had been number one all season and they went through and dominated the Big 10 and went undefeated.
It wouldn’t surprise me if LSU goes and lays an egg and OSU gets away with a win, but at this point it doesn’t look like a good game. At this point it looks like it should be a good ole fashioned woodshed beating.
What is the spread now? 2 TDs… 3 TDs towards LSU?
Lets call this game what it really is though… Sugar Bowl pt. 2… there is not National Championship game this year.
I agree that there really is no NC game this year. This would be the perfect year for a college football tournament. But I guess that makes too much or no sense to the Big 10/11 and Pac 10. We wouldn’t want those pansy princesses to miss out on the Parade of Roses.
Even though we’re the lucky ones, I have to agree. A four team playoff wouldn’t be perfect, but it would be better than what we’ve got. Eight might even be better, and there are probably enough teams to make that reasonable, but, oh yeah, that many games would cut into study time and holidays, and that’s what’s really important, you know.
God I hope you “spellers” didn’t attend any Big Ten universities. That would be a bigger shame than anything that might take place in the bowl games. Geez, take some pride in the written content of your post even if nothing you say makes any sense. Hey, the colleges go where they are told and the bowl sponsors are hoping more for a big payday than possibly a good game. If the game pans out then everyone wins. I am an Illinois fan and hear me now and believe me later, we came close to getting tOSU to overtime last year and beat them this year. “We” could have told you that they were not the 1-2 game participant that they were made out to be in 2006 and are not sure about 2007. We also know that USC is a powerful and scary opponent but we are grabbing onto this opportunity as fans, yes fans of the program and hope the team plays well. Very few if any of us feel we are dominant of anyone else but do believe we can compete. That being said, we have to wait until New Years Day.
@16 wow are you some kinda Stephen A Smith wanna be?
Tell you what… We will jsut sit here and not type anything about sports or have any discussion and just let the games play themselves.
Hell NO! We’re gonna rip into the Big 10 because they don’t deserve to be in any BCS games. Do you realize that Mizzou beat you and you get into a BCS bowl and they don’t? I mean you’re fuckin’ 13th in the rankings… You have got to be the worst team in the BCS games.
You should be glad you’re in there, but you probably should wish they had started you off somewhere smaller so that you could get your feet wet before going off to the big bad BCS and getting blown out by USC.
USC 54 – 10 Illinois
Go Trojans…even though Illinois has seen the light…the SEC Speedlight…courtesy of the SEC Coaching reject
BigFootFool! Jeez you mist the point, jsut wate wile I tink of sumpin clever to rezpond to u. Who sed anyting abowt not talking sportz. Again, you proved my point better than I ever could.
If OSU and the Big Ten is so slow, then why are there 52 OSU alumni in the NFL, more than LSU, Florida, Alabama, etc… Of these alumni, 9 are wide receivers, 11 more are defensive backs, plus a slew of OLBs and TEs. Hmmm, aren’t those speed/athlete positions? Check it out….
http://sportsline.com/collegefootball/alumni-tracker/school/1592
Where is your speed argument now? I guess a bunch of oyster shuckin, back-woods, cousin-f*ckin’ moronic SEC fans are better judges of talent than NFL scouts and coaches.
Listen, I retract my last statement. That was mean, I realize that some LSU grads haven’t shucked oysters in years and have probably beenn promoted to crawdad boilin’.
did florida just score again?
Nope that was Kentucky’s incredibly talented 5 loss team ringing up more points.
Can I get extra mayo on that po-boy please? I’ll tip you extra.
@19 Your point is crap.
Aww shit did I screw up and type the letter with my left hand instead of with my right hand first… Well that must make me some kinda inbred hick because I don’t go back through and read everything I type.
You know what I don’t take pride in the “written content” of my post.
I’m fucking commenting on a fucking blog.
@22 Kentucky would win the Big 10. Even they are faster than the Failboats
[...] Big Ten teams being led to bowl game slaughter [Loser With Socks] [...]
@22 You are delusional if you think Kentucky could win the Big 10. They are an average team….an average 5 loss team.
We heard this crap last year. Yeah, OSU laid an egg after a 57 day layoff. Aside from that, the Big 10 was two out of three in matches versus the mighty SEC in bowl games. Check the record of Big 10 vs. SEC in bowl games over the past five years and you’ll find that the Big 10 is WELL OVER .500 against your semi-pro league.
I guess if you say something enough times, it becomes true. “The SEC is better, The SEC is better, The SEC is better”….doesn’t work for me. Face is the SEC has as much depth on the football field as they do in their curricula.
Congratulations on integrating your universities, enjoy your grits.
Since 1991, JA the SEC is 19-16 versus the BIG TEN. and Florida was lucky Hart fumbles twice or the game would have not been that close. Michigan, Iowa, Penn State, and Wisconsin all have winning records against the SEC in Bowl games. So all the talk and all the hype is overrated!!!
The SEC will be 2-1 this season after the Failboats gets cornholed by the corndogs.
And Ohi0-8 State will be still be pimping the goose egg vs SEC teams in Bowls.
Nice call on the UM vs Fla! The SEC proves once again that it truly has the fastest, most athletic, and best teams from top to bottom in the SEC!
What planet are you living on that you think that OSU “really is outmatched”? All of the stats that I’m seeing say different.
As for OSU “backing in” to the game — Does LSU not have 2 (TWO) LOSES…so much for backing in…they robbed Georgia and VT – how the hell did they jump over teams with better records?
As for “lambs to the slaughter” — what happened with Florida? If Hart (bless his BIG mouth) doesn’t fumble at the goal line twice the final score would have been 55 – 28… hummm, I hear gator meat tastes sort’a like “Lamb”…
I think “tiger” meat tastes like Lamb too!
GLM,
Obviously you’ve suffered from Vest Syndrome. The stats argument mean nothing.. Take for instance the UGA/Hawaii game… Hawaii had the worlds best padded stats, with Jesus’ 2nd son at QB..
Whats fucking plain and simple to understand, is that they were outmatched by UGA..
The same way OSU is outmatched by LSU. Do I care about LSU? Certainly not, but I’m also not someone who lives under a rock.
VT and UGA didn’t get robbed by LSU.. UGA didn’t win the SECC, and VT, is garbage. If your using the arguement for record, then why didn’t Hawaii play for the marbles??? Ohhhhh yeah…
I forgot.. Some people actually take into account the HS schedule some programs continue to line up each year, and the fact that they barely do anything when they get pushed into the “real” ring.
OSU will get spanked, and everyone in the Big Ten will ride on UM beating Florida this year as their “beat down” of the SEC.
I feel that OSU had a better team last year, this year, not so much.. However, they still won’t get lucky, regardless if LSU is a weaker team than UF was last year.
Eat crow buckeyes
Throwing up 2 consecutive goose eggs, you don’t even deserve to be in BCS discussion next year
fucking embarassing
Hey, good call on Florida guaranteed to beat Michigan! I hope you bet a million dollars on the Pats beating the Giants too! There are no guarantees in sports, idiot!
