In the Garden

The Memphis Tigers and the USC Trojans face off tonight in New York at Madison Square Garden.  It’s all part of the Jimmy V Classic.  Here are some reasons you should watch

  1.  Phenom Freshman – OJ Mayo and Derrick Rose are probably playing to see which one of them gets picked first.  Everyone has been plugging these freshman like they are the best thing since sliced bread, and these two should be in the NBA already.
  2. #2 Memphis – This is their highest ranking since 1986.  Why is this important?  It’s not, but the tigers are taking their 10th trip to the Garden with Coach Cal and they are 8-6 in their last 9 trips  including a 2002 NIT championship.
  3. Tim Floyd has got to be THE gayest coach in college basketball.

So really that’s all I got, but it should be a good game.  While USC has stumbled to a slow 6-2 start with home losses to Kansas and Mercer, they did more with less than anybody in the NCAA tournament last year besting Arkansas and TexasKevin Durant to make it to the Sweet 16.  Now they have OJ Mayo…. and that’s something… Better than OJ Fuckin’ Miracle Whip.

So watch the Tigers and their unique slashing offense before Coach Cal gives it all away to the Chinese.
