Stupid Stuff Dick Vitale Says
I watched the Memphis vs. USC game last night and while the game was mildly interesting… actually it was a snore fest because of the boring play of the Condoms, but Dicky V provided some very interesting comments… and some boring comments over and over again…Here are my favorites.
“Dow Joneser… he’s going up and down”
“Diaper Dandy”
“You Become the King… Baby”
“I think we’re gonna see a little spurt here” every Memphis possession in the 2nd half
“The BCS ended up being BS”… smartest thing he’s ever said
”45 seconds left… one point up…. you have the ball… you wanna spread the court… score here….. and play good defense”…. who are you John Madden?
“John Calipari can’t believe it….”
“Lotta Coaching Strategy going down”
“He’s a talented player” I had no idea who he was talking about here…
“We goin’ OT baby” we all know that… it’s tied at the end of regulation you big bald fucker
“I tell you the sloppy, sloppy play”
”Gotta a 29 on his SAT scores” Do you even know what the SAT is?
“I got fired from coaching because my back court looked like [Mike] Greenie and [Mike] Golic”
You gotta feel bad for Dan Shulman (On Vitale’s left – courtesy Cnn.com). He’s supposed to be the play by play guy, but he spends so much of his time corralling and controlling his color guy Dicky V. The brilliance of Shulman is really displayed when Dick Vitale has his random statements out of nowhere. You don’t know where he came from or where he’s going, but Shulman has segues ready and just moves smoothly on with his broadcast.

i used to enjoy dickie v. now, he’s like a one of those wind-up dolls or a robot. it’s like somebody dunks it and an imaginary man chooses which button to press (High Riser, Dipsy-Doo, Dunkaroo or Slam-Jam-Bam_). it’s old and tired…which is how Shulman looked every time they put the camera on him.

Dickie V is like so 1995
Vitale is the worst. However, he will never be as bad as he was 2 seasons ago when JJ Reddick was a senior. I seriously think the would have sex with the guy. It would be a Tuesday night Memphis-Oklahoma game (really any matchup not involving Duke or the ACC, just putting 2 teams out there), and he would find a way to bring up JJ at least 20 times. Fucking awful.
Maybe that’s where Dick V got the whole “I tell you he’s a talented player” out of nowhere thing. He still has the JJ Reddick bug.
But he does manage to bring up Duke and the ACC every chance he gets…
