Meyer-Tebow and the Heisman

2007 December 7
by Jai Eugene

Fuck me to tears, please don’t let this guy lose again.

Tim Tebow accounted for 51 touchdowns in every conceivable way…with more coming in the bowl game. No QB EVER has had this type of season

3,132 passing yards
69% completion
29 passing Touchdowns
838 rushing yards
22 rushing Touchdowns
Threw a TD and ran for a TD in every game this year

Tebow already created a new category (20/20) and with the bowl game expect 30/20. I guess this is what happens when your quarterback is your running back. Or is it…

Does this mean that everyone else on Florida  sucks? Or is this a shameless ploy wrapped up in the humble evangelical cloak of the super human that is being used to pad Meyer’s resume?

ESPN refuses to acknowledge that an SEC player may win the Heisman, they also deny that they can influence the Heisman selection process.

Seriously, who is Florida’s Running Back? [Yahoo] Anyone know? I sure as hell don’t. Tebow played the role of a fullback, in that he busted through the offensive line to make holes for his team’s non-existant running back to speed through, and he’s simply a scrambling quarterback with the build of a “fullback”

There is very little mention of McFadden or Tebow yet BC’s Matt Ryan got quite a blow job and a reacharound a couple of Saturdays ago. After the final BC TD against some crappy ACC foe ..”Matt Ryan has moved to the top of the Heisman list”…yeah, okay.

It’s unbelievable. I know they’re biased but really, it’s ridiculous.

“DID YOU SEE THAT 10 YARD PASS? OH MAN, MATTY ICE!”

“OH MAN WHAT A SCREEN BY MATT RYAN”

(after 5 yard pass) “THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GIVE MATTY SOME TIME”

I can’t stand Florida, I can’t stand their fans, I can’t stand some of their oddball habits.

So he’s gonna get the double kiss of death for a quarterback’s prospective NFL career:

1) Go to UF  and FAIL in the NFL(Rex Grossman, Jesse Palmer, Doug Johnson, Danny Wuerffel).

2) Win the Heisman Trophy (Vinny Testaverde, Andre Ware, Ty Detmer, Gino Torretta, Danny Wuerffel, Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, Carson Palmer, Jason White, Matt Leinart, Troy Smith) Note: Charlie Ward gets a pass because he went to the NBA.

3) Win the trophy multiple times and be as successful as Archie Griffin, of the tOSU Failboats.

There’s not a great NFL quarterback on either list–although Carson Palmer could become one, and I guess Leinart could even though he seems like too much of a douchebag. Testaverde gets points for sheer longevity, but he’s not a great quarterback.

But if Mattie Ice or D-Mac or God forbid Colt  wins the Heisman over Herban Meyer-Tebow that’s a disgrace. In no way has he been more outstanding than Herban Meyer-Tebow this season. And I don’t even like Herban Meyer-Tebow.

You can’t stand me, Jai? Man, that hurts. I wish I knew how to quit you!

Florida fans are easy to dislike. Arrogance of bammer with the tradition of Vandy. Tebow deserves the Heisman, however I hope he dosen’t get it. I want the Gator nation to know the pain that was the 1997 Heisman travesty.

Regardless of the fans, or not.. Regardless of the bias ESPN shows everyone but the SEC… Regardless that the guy is a Sophomore….

He’s seriously on the top, if not the top.. His numbers are insane, albeit padded a little.. But I think it’s fucked up, he’s getting scrutinized harder than say… Matt Ryan..

Sure Tebow won’t be worth a flip in the NFL.. Sure it’ll be a surprise if he lasts to his senior year without having a body replacement.. But this year, he’s got the shot.

if you get this message, you need to transfer to another school. I play for the niners and I suck, thanks to Coach Meyer. I know zilch about passing.

Please transfer or you will end up with Wuerffel passsing out Bibles

Yea, like Clausen, Tee Martin, & Heath Shuler really took the NFL by storm!! Jai, please, tell me, Tenn’s last Heisman winner was who??? Thanks, I thought so. Shut your piehole!

For the record, Grossman should’ve been the 1st underclassman to win the Heisman. No way Crouch had a better season than “Sexy” Rexy!!

  7. 2007 December 7

@6 Grossman should’ve been the 1st underclassman to win the Heisman? nice football knowledge dikfur, google Archie Griffin and then come back and comment

#7. You little dumb shit, go bone up on your football iq. No sophomore has ever won the award. Do me a favor and go look up when Crouch won the award, and you’ll see that Grossman was a sophomore, which qualifies an an underclassman. then go and look when Archie Griffin won the award and you’ll see that he was a JR & SR. This will require you to pull your head out of your ass while you do this little bit of research! You dumbass, inbred, hick fuck!!!
BTW, Griffin finished 5th in Heisman voting his sophomore season.

don’t mind angryQueer, to him football was just invented when WVU beat UGa in the sugar bowl. He knows as much about football as my 1 year old son.

@9. Tell me about it. He obviously never attended college seeing as he doesn’t know the difference between an underclassman & upperclassman.

    Grossman for Heisman:

What sucks now is that it’s unanimous across the board. Any time a sportswriter writes/talks about the 2001 Heisman, they all say Grossman should have won it.

@11. I know, it’s terrible. Obviously, a good portion of Heisman winners did not have uber successful NFL careers, but last I checked, the Heisman was for feats of collegiate excellence, not an accurate gauge of NFL success, and most knowledgeable fans agree that Grossman should’ve taken it home that year. It just sucks having to be reminded of it year after year.

    Rudy was Offsides:

I’m tired of the “I hate the Gator fans” bullshit. Be honest. You hate Florida because they were the 1 thing that kept UT out of the SECCG and beyond for a long time after the SEC went to 12 teams. Combine that with Spurrier – a Coach who knew his teams were good and who was arrogant about it – and that’s plenty of reason for a UT fan to dislike the Gators. Shit, UF owned the SEC for 4 straight years from ‘93-’96 but UT had some great teams during that time. UF was the one obstacle keeping them from even greater things.

As the Ol’ Ball Coach once said – “They only hate you when you’re beating them.”

UF may have so fans that are obnoxious and run their mouth, but it’s a very small group. Every fanbase has them – especially in the SEC. UT is NO exception.

@13. I respectfully disagree. JaMarcus was turnover prone at best. A physical specimen he was, but hardly a true Heisman contender. Against Florida alone, LSU had 11 turnovers, & JaMarcus was responsible for 9 of them.

  17. 2007 December 7

    @ 12:

Good point on the “NFL success” comment.

When I heard June Jones say on Jim Rome that one of the reasons Tebow shouldn’t win is because his QB runs a pro-style offense and he is better suited for the NFL, my jaw dropped. I thought to myself – “is that what some people are actually basing the Heisman on – who MIGHT have a better NFL career?” Makes no sense.

Hey June Jones, since your QBs put up gaudy stats and are so NFL ready, can you give me a Timmy Chang NFL Update? I can’t seem to find one on Sportscenter each Sunday. Thanks.

JaMarcus always seemed to start slow, but would cut your heart out in the 4th qtr

  21. 2007 December 7

And BTW, Jim Rome sucks! He could’ve taken June Jones to task over the fact that he was basing the Heisman on what might happen in the NFL, but didn’t. He could’ve easily referenced Timmy Chang and his lack of success in the NFL, but didn’t. He was too busy stroking June off. Lame-o.

  22. 2007 December 7

AngryEer, do you still have your Oliver Luck for Heisman T-Shirt?

Grossman for Heisman Fan Club Pres. permalink

@17. LOL!!! Very good point about Timmy Chang. If they’re so pissed off, why don’t they just find another team to join the Pac-10, same goes for Directional Virgina. Why don’t you guys just join the Big 10, since you want to play with the big boys all the time, then lets see how many conf championships you come up with.

@18. Just what I thought. When confronted with the facts, you turtle…typical West Virginia. HA! Little hands. Awesome comeback btw.

I’m glad that your “sick of this bullshit”, seeing Gator fans in anguish makes me happy. I live in Florida and most of my friends are UF alum and Gator homers; Gator ‘haters’ don’t despise gator fans because “they were beat by UF”; but rather because they claim absolute domination over everyone – all the while disavowing that UF even played football before SOS. Thanks for bringing up Spurrier by the way. Again, too much arrogance of and very little tradition.

Spout that company line though – fight the good fight LL.

  25. 2007 December 7

LL, wow, an Oliver Luck for Heisman reference. I would be shocked if he didn’t have an Oliver Luck Fathead.

As for the Heisman, while I think Mcfadden should win, I wouldn’t mind seeing Tebow with the prize. Either one, but please no Colt Brennan. QB (insert name here) at Texas Tech puts up gaudy numbers every year. Graham Harrell currently has more yards and more touchdowns than Colt running a similar offense.

Umm, yeah someone has had a season like Tebow’s before, WHILE SPENDING THE 2ND HALF OF MOST OF HIS GAMES ON THE BENCH.

    Vince
    Passing Yards: 3036
    Passing TDs: 26
    Completion %: 65.2
    INTs: 10

    Rushing Yards: 1050
    Rushing TDs: 12
    Avg Per Carry: 6.8

Undefeated National Champion. Probably played 2/3 of the minutes Tebow did as Texas completely kicked people’s asses all year.

    Tim Tebow
    Passing Yards: 3132
    Passing TDs: 29
    Completion %: 68.5
    INTs: 6

    Rushing Yards: 838
    Rushing TDs: 22
    Avg Per Carry: 4.3

Lead team to a 9-3 record. But still has one more game to add to his stats.

  35. 2007 December 11
