Junk Trophy December 11, 2007

trackback

The same group of morons who denied Peyton Manning the Heisman Trophy, have now awarded that same useless trinket to a jort-wearing, jump-passing cheerleader.

That’s right, one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the game was passed over for a mediocre defensive back in 1997. Yet this “world-beater” who led his mighty Gators to a three loss, third place finish in the SEC East is crowned greatest player in the game?

It is obvious that Heisman voters are simply bored with crowning the best player in the game. They are more interested in breaking new ground. One day maybe a punter will get enough votes. Or maybe they will just give the award to some kid in a wheelchair. After all, the attention is apparently more important than actually awarding the best player in college football (McFadden). It was less about who is truly the best player and more about “shocking the nation” (as if people care anymore).

Junk Trophy

To refresh your memory - Teabag lead his team to the middle of the pack in Eastern Division of the SEC. 3rd place. Yet, the knock against Manning was he didn’t beat Florida????? Manning also never got humiliated by Georgia, but I guess the criteria change with the latest fads and fashions. HUMILIATED BY GEORGIA. Oh and those tears shed on national television after Auburn’s kicker did the chomp right in Herban Meyer’s face??? Simply a resume enhancement for this football Oscar. And who can forget the mighty sophomore leading his Gators past the LSU juggern…..oh wait that was a loss too.

Damn, looks like Teabow was pretty mediocre after all.

I agree. I think John Parker Wilson should have won… No, wait, maybe Eric Ainge…

2. Jimmy Barnes - December 11, 2007

Yes, JPW has the strongest arm in the SEC.

“After all, the attention is apparently more important than actually awarding the best player in college football (McFadden).”

“Teabag lead his team to the middle of the pack in Eastern Division of the SEC. 3rd place.”

What’s it going to be, Lloyd? You bash Tebow for leading his team to 3 losses yet say McFadden should have won it despite leading his team to 4 losses. You make no sense.

Your mangina still hurts over Peyton not winning it a decade ago. Who cares? Get over it. I know it pains you to see a Gator win it but seriously Dude, quit bitchin’ like a little girl.

Just saying that the knock against Peyton was that he “couldn’t beat the Gators”. Teabag couldn’t beat the Tigers, the Bengal Tigers, or the Dawgs.

Apparently wins mattered when Peyton was the obvious winner, but they don’t matter when Teabag jump-passes his way to the trophy.

Peyton deserved it whether Tennessee won or lost, voters just wanted to break new ground.

This year it is the same old song and dance.

@7 you’re just sore from the bitch-slapping he put on the vols in september. with all due respect to other vols around here, i’m not trying to start anything…..but wtf?!

sophomore tim tebow didn’t beat auburn, georgia, or lsu THIS year. peyton was 0-4 v. florida. there’s a difference.

also, some of those peyton-led vol teams (aside from his freshman year) SHOULD HAVE played for a MNC, yet peyton got to know florida’s secondary far too often, resulting in an inability to keep up in the scorefests. the onus fell on him a bit for falling short.

tebow, on the other hand, willed florida to several wins. this was not 2006 florida by any stretch. our defense was quite porous, yet tebow kept us in every game, completely dominating some of them (see tennessee game).

10. Brian - December 11, 2007

Let me think this over…how did UF actually lose those games…was it Tebow’s fault? Quick answer: No. ding, ding, ding, ding. The correct answer is defense and ST. Was Tebow actually on the field when UF gave up the AU FG or the LSU drive of a lifetime? Quick answer: No. ding, ding, ding, ding.

To see the power of Gator Nation at work on this blog is the best Christmas present ever.

#6-Solid retort. Watching Lloyd back step on #7 was priceless.

Deal with reality folks!

11. lloydbraun - December 11, 2007

Brian - If Teabag isn’t responsible for the Gator’s losing, then Peyton wasn’t responsible for the Vols losing. You can’t have it both ways, bitch

12. Brian - December 11, 2007

Lloyd you are so cute when you get angry. Again, I love the power we have over you to get you so riled up.

Did you get a UT education? Remind me where I said PM didn’t deserve it? Keep looking…keep looking…keep looking….

But I am waiting for you to decide if wins matter or not since you stated DM was the best player in the game. Obviously winning doesn’t matter does it. Hence Manning winning didn’t matter did it?

You getting tied up in your own logic Lloyd?

I thought Eeyore was dumbing the blog down but I guess you two walk hand in hand.

Run along Lloyd and go place nice with smokey.

13. lloydbraun - December 11, 2007

I’m sorry Brian, I was thrown off by “place nice with Smokey”. What were you saying?

14. LL - December 11, 2007

Brian has a point. While us Gators on here have pointed out that Peyton did not WIN the Heisman, none of us have said that he did not DESERVE it or that he should not have won it. In my opinion, he should have won it. He was 0-4 against UF, but that shouldn’t be the deciding factor.

As for Smokey, well, I hope he gets heartworms and dies.

(kidding)

15. AngryEer - December 11, 2007

damn LL….that was harsh ….

16. LL - December 11, 2007

I put the (kidding) disclaimer at the bottom.

18. THE MAN! - May 16, 2008

is this a page for butt-hurt vol fans? to say Tebow NEVER beat LSU, Auburn or Georgia is ludicrous. he still has 2 more seasons left and he will beat at least 2 of them, depending on if the Gators should happen to play Auburn in the SEC game.

Tebow and the Gators will BITCH SLAP the vols in ‘08!
