What Bobby Petrino is really thinking
After the announcement on Tuesday of the new coach at Arkansas, ADs at Michigan, UCLA, Colorado St., Duke, Houston, N. Illinois, and SMU have already begun calling Fayetteville asking for permission to speak to Bobby Petrino.
He is already considered the favorite for the LSU job if Miles leaves for Michigan on January 8th.
In all seriousness, with bringing in Bobby Petrino the SEC has taken two years to remove the best coach from the Big East and place him in the SEC. It’s hard to find a really bad coach in the SEC at this point.
The Razorback Nation is pretty excited about this hire, but will definately be waiting and watching. The talk in the sports world today is about Bobby Petrino being a bastard that would stab his own mother in the back for a cool $2.8 million a year, but it seems like he’s been a guy just trying to find his niche. He realized he couldn’t cut it in the NFL, but there have been many other coaches who couldn’t.
We do feel a little strange about it, because it’s similar to the guy who has a girlfriend that is way hotter than him. I now understand what Carolina fans were feeling when Spurrier was hired in ‘04, except better because Arkansas isn’t a shit program like over in Columbia.
I’ll be surprised if he lasts through January, but if he does I’ll give it a year and then he’s off to some other gig.

Arkansas just stooped to Alabama/Nick Saban levels, a situation all Razorback and SEC fans still to this day guffaw at ‘Bama fans about. Alabama’s hiring of a successful coach and potential resurgence of the program was overshadowed by the complete dishonesty surrounding it. Arkansas just topped that, something many thought was impossible.
He may win as a Hog, but at what cost and for how long?
@14: Just under $3mil/yr and anywhere from one month to three years. I doubt much of the Arkansas fanbase expects anything long-term from this guy. It’s not like we’re Bama fans for Christ’s sake.
Bobby Petrino is out there. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Hear the latest: Petrino will be hand cuffed to Frank Broyles for three months as part of his contract and will not be able to take the LSU job. Bat Shit Crazy Ed Orgeron will revive the program at LSU because of his “cajun” blood lines and world class handling of the bull whip. June Jones goes back to Atlanta and Spurrier says aloha to the Cocks and is off to Hawaii, in the interim Grobe will coach both the Demons and the Cocks until Fatso Fulmer takes the Cocks job. Belichick is rumored for the Orange but no confirmation at this time.

Now we find out that “paragon of virtue”, Jerry Jones was in on the Petrino Betrayal. Certainly figures, a bunch of character flawed clowns running around cutting devious deals in the dark of night and Petrino did not have the balls to meet with the Atlanta team, just fled like an Arab in the night. Arkansas really got them a peach. First of all how can a player believe anything Petrino says and how long will it take that jerk to cut himself another covert deal?
Ahh, but you see the beauty behind Jeff Long “The new evil genious” plan. Get a good coach. Then bring him to Arkansas in such a manner that no one ever trusts him. That way if he does try to cut and run for another college team within 2 years, they will not hire him and thus he stays at Arkansas. It’s brilliant.
