Brandon Rush Still Playing

Bill Self needs to take away Brandon Rush’s keys. While he can drive on the court, he obviously has problems driving on the road.
He has a December 2006 charge of driving on the wrong side of the road with no insurance and an October ‘07 charge for speeding without proof of insurance. After failing to make his court date he was arrested on Dec. 6th on two warrants.
The hearing for not appearing in court has of course been moved to April 11th 2008, 4 days after the April 7th end to the College Basketball season.
“I needed some more information. We needed to push it back a little bit. A week wasn’t enough time,” Rush said Wednesday. “It’s after the season so I don’t have to worry about it at all.” Exactly, but this is supposed to be real life. Why are you coddling basketball players and letting it all slide…
Okay so the law is letting it slide, but surely Bill Self will suspend him for a game or two right? Wrong! Bill Self has said that he will be in the starting lineup when the Rock-Chalk Jayhawks take on Ohio on Saturday.
Good Job Bill Self. I think that’s what you should do with your star players. Give them a pass. They’re just kids right? Kid’s aren’t supposed to obey traffic laws and show up in court. If they had to do that, they’d be Men over the age of 18.
“It was all my fault,” said Rush, who practiced with the team. “I wasn’t being responsible. Coach always says take care of our responsibilities. I just got confused on the dates and never showed up for my court date.”

Yeah, but we have to judge Brandon by Rush Family standards. He’s in much less trouble than Kareem or JaRon could have cooked up.
