ESPN hates Arkansas

WTF?

Okay, I was mad during the whole Heisman thing where ESPN basically decided and told voters nationally that Tebow should get the Heisman.  That’s fine, because it doesn’t really directly hurt our school, though a Heisman player would’ve been nice.

The most recent attack on our school with Sean Salisbury (known a-hole and talentless Quarterback) urging Arkansas recruits to avoid Arkansas.  Could this have anything to do with USC commit Joe Adams living in Little Rock?  Could it be that Sean, who played USC, is trying to help out his Alma Mater using his status as a national broadcaster?  Or is it that ESPN is just hating on the mighty Razorbacks and can’t stand the idea of their return to national prominence?

The Razorbacks are coming back bitch, and I’ll be damned if I don’t hear “woo pig sooie’s” coming from Sportscenter when the Razorbacks when the National Championship.

Okay I can’t do this Angry ‘Eer-like crap anymore.  Suffice it to say, ESPN can blow me and suck on the big fat cock of the state of Arkansas.  It’s a different matter when you are talking news about a guy who has switched jobs three times this year.  Attacking Bobby Petrino is not the same thing as attacking the school and hurting recruiting.  Or obviously fluffing one guy over an obviously better football player for the Heisman.  When DMac wins the votes of the Southwest where he plays and the coaches that have to gameplan against him, but doesn’t win nationally it’s a little ridiculous and that’s when you have to realize that ESPN made more time for Tebow and made a bigger deal about his marginal achievements.

Go Hogs!  We’ll persevere through all of this, but I’m just wondering when they are going to try to bring down our basketball team, too.

  1. Deja Vu, only with a different U of A. Of course, Salisbury wasn’t flipping out when Saban left Miami. But, we did get a nice rant from Dick Vitale, which was pretty entertaining.

  2. WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

  3. Thank God you caught yourself…I was beginning to think you and Eer were related…well, the Ozarks are “West Virginia Lite”.

Hey, Petrino is just your hired gun. He’ll come in, get the ball rolling, and he’ll move on, but not without leaving the program in better shape than he found it. And that includes the fan base. I wouldn’t expect a miracle next year, with that empty backfield and all, but after two or three, things should improve. By that time, Les Miles will finally jump to Ann Arbor, and we’ll steal Petrino away, to clean up any messes Miles leaves behind, and the cycle will repeat…

As far as the Heisman, I wouldn’t sweat it, DMac will be laughing all the way to the bank in a matter of months.

  4. well the main thing that bugs me is having someone being able to get on national t.v. and tell recruits that they shouldn’t go to a school. Especially when a recruit for HIS alma mater, Joe Adams, is in the balance there.

    Isn’t that a recruiting violation?

  5. @4 In the literal sense, no, he’s not getting paid by USC to say that (at least not that we know of), nor is he giving anything of value to the recruit (save his opinion, which is of questionable value). His target is Petrino, and Arkansas just happens to be in the way. The only way he knows to actually hurt Bobby is to cause him to miss out on prize recruits.

Similar to when Herbstreit released his “breaking news” the morning of the SECCG. No actual violation or law broken, just a question of conflict of interest. ESPN does not seem to understand the concept a lot of times.

  6. Yeah, and they will probably never be able to get around it, but journalists especially at that level need more accountability.

Do we get on these guys more because they played for that school or would we be on a guy who just went to that school if he wasn’t an athlete.

I think Herbstreit does a good job of staying neutral, but Salisbury is an SOB that usually doesn’t provide any good analysis anyway.

  7. Angry Eer may need a kleen-ex.

  8. @7 I guess Eer will now tell us that WVU is so good that it doesn’t even need a head coach to be the national champs (probably couldn’t have done any worse against Pitt).

  9. Maybe they’ll hire the Wannstache.

  10. something something… eer football is not about a coach … something something… we’re destined to be standing atop … something something…

  11. Pat White for HC, Noel Devine OC. Done deal as far as my sources are concerned. And by sources, I mean random statements I just pulled out of thin air.

  12. “mighty razorbacks”? “return to national prominence”? Are you guys going to re-form the SWC to get that accomplished?

This cat’s delusional like my 98 year old great grandmother – all excited about the horseless carriage and shit.

  13. @12 … you just don’t get it do you?

  14. Yeah, even we think our alma mater sucks.

Petrino is a disgrace to the Ozark state.

  15. I’m not Berry Switzer

  16. @7:

I told AngryEer earlier this week that it was only a matter of time before Coach Rod went all “Ole Miss-Tuberville” on them.

    Country roads…….

  17. Dick Vitale did the same thing with Patrick Patterson, urging him to go to Duke and avoid the mess at UK… How the hell do they get away with doing that?

  18. he is messing with the Failboats…they are ashitting themsleves thinking about ryan mallet running the spread against the pussy tOSU D

  19. LL

No kidding, RR is not going anywhere. Unlike some mercenary coaches: Meyer Saban Tubby and Petrino, he is staying where he actually has roots.

He will be the Frank BroyLE (W/o the S) in Morgantown

  20. Angry,

He was all but gone to Bama last year. Now this year he’s flirting with Mich.?

Even if he doesn’t go to Michigan this year it’s only delaying the inevitable.

Man, how bad would that suck to have your coach leave you to go to a Big Ten school?

  21. if it is between meyer and rod, i go with rod. Rod has a soul

  22. what does it say about Alabama?

  23. Re: ESPN Journalistic Integrity

Yeah, it’s pretty much the saddest thing that the one network that I grew up thinking was always for me as a sports fan has turned into this steaming pile of garbage that it is. Someone mentioned how no, they don’t break any rules technically with their words and opinions, but what they do does cause harm to whomever they choose.

To explain: ESPN has positioned itself as the unquestioned authority of major sports (football, basketball and baseball) to the ignorant masses (comprised mainly of fairweather/bandwagon sports fans, casual sports fans, the majority of AP/Heisman/etc. voting, etc.). They have done this by being the only game in town after buying up the rights to pretty much everything they can, so that many people never go to another channel for a different opinion b/c there are less desirable options on those channels.
After this, they tell everyone that they are experts over and over again, and leave the masses with the impression that, “Wow, this guy must know what he’s talking about b/c he’s on ESPN, so I’ll blindly take his opinion as fact or form my own opinion on the subject to agree with his so I’ll sound smart when talking to my buddies/co-workers, etc.”
Thus, when they do put on guys like Salisbury on the air, people do listen. Maybe not the recruits or some fans, but the majority of this ignorant masses that I spoke about will see this and instantly form the opinion, “well, he’s right (he has to be, he’s on ESPN), no one should go to Arkansas. I think that I’ll start disliking Arkansas to show my disapproval.”
This is truly hurting not only the sport, but all the schools involved and the dedicated fan bases that follow their favorite teams. It doesn’t stop at that. Look at college football as a whole. It is truly the largest victim of ESPN because it is the only sport without a playoff, a sport where popular opinion decides its champion.
Think about that again, college football’s champions are decided by a vote, not the results of a championship game (fuck the BCS). So, if you have a sport that is decided by a vote, it becomes very dangerous to the integrity of that sport when some one or thing has the power to dictate and form peoples’ opinions for them. Many AP writers that get votes are very not dedicated football fans and are not able to take in a Saturday’s events objectively, and they probably just want to get out a vote that makes them not look stupid. ESPN can provide them with enough backup to refute claims that maybe they don’t know what they’re talking about.

So, when ESPN crams the Big 10 and Pac 10 down our throats every weekend (and the Big East on Thursday’s), they really are shaping the opinion, and thus, the outcome of much of the football results we see in the polls each week. Not to mention the Heisman, etc.

  26. “it’s a little ridiculous and that’s when you have to realize that ESPN made more time for Tebow and made a bigger deal about his marginal achievements.”

Marginal Acheivements??? You and ‘Eer ought to meet up on Brokeback ’cause you’re both delusional fudgepackers for your schools.

ESPN has always picked a favorite and promoted their achievements. Why do you think there have been so many crappy Heisman winners in the past? (Don’t make me name names!)

It’s not about who will make the best pro player, who had the best record, or who led his team to the MNC, it’s about who was the best player that year.

Even though we beat his jort wearing, dope smoking, common criminal scumbag team, even I can recognize a great player when I see one, but then again, I had the blessing of watching Herschel Walker for 3 years.

BigFootFool, I’ll cut you a modicum (yeah you’ll have to look that one up) of slack since at least in the last century Arkansas actually accomplished something in terms of titles.

‘Eer, you need to STFU now. We’ve listened to your whiny vaginal secretions all year. Beat somebody, win a title (Pop Warner??) do something, and then you can talk some smack.

  27. @26 sorry, but he didn’t break any records. He became the first person to do two things in large numbers…

He did a good job and his stats are impressive, but why did everyone from the South East where the two players play choose DMac over Tebow?

Why is it that so many people say “I’ll vote for Tebow, even though DMac is the best player”? Because ESPN basically told them they should vote for Tebow.

Who is mod and why are you telling him you came? I am not seriously talking about the glory of Arkansas shining from the mountain top. We are a good football team playing week in and week out against great football teams. Thats how you can have the most dynamic player in college football and still end up 8-4.

I wanted DMac to win, and he didn’t. I blame it on the fact that he got injured and we didn’t let him cut loose for 3 TDs and 250 yards on every cupcake we faced.

I think Sean Salisbury is an ass for saying recruits shouldn’t come to Arkansas, when even a dumbass like me can spot his bias.

  28. @26 & 27:

First off, I love how UGA beats UF ONE FUCKIN’ TIME and bama-bang’d penny loafer wearing fags like Barkin’ Dawg start talkin’ shit. But then again, you’ve only been able to talk shit 3 times in the last 18 years, so you’ve got to get your fill. So be it. Tebow played hurt. You already knew he wasn’t going to run so UGA blitzed all game. And yet, UF was still in it until the final minutes. Tebow didn’t lose that game, the young defense did. Go iron your red pants you fuckin’ queer!

As for you BigFootFool, move on. Tebow won the Heisman, deal with it. It’s over. Everyone who spouts off at the mouth saying McFadden should’ve won, contradicts themselves 2-3 times over while doing so.

God Dammit there’s a bunch of fuckin’ crybabies on this site!

  29. “But why did everyone from the South East where the two players play choose DMac over Tebow?”

    Umm…

    They didn’t…

    D-Mac won the SouthWEST region…

  30. [...] Yet another reason ESPN is gay. Do any legit fans even pay attention anymore? – Loser With Socks [...]

  31. Well Ear, Rod is a scUM man now. And no, noone is afraid of Mallet runnin the spread. He’s a drop back passer, he will transfer before he does that, well does it well

  32. I am not an Arkansas fan, I live in Georgia, But I cannot beleive that Arkansas does not SUE over the recent ESPN Petrino bashing. They actually sounded like they had asked their lawyers “how far can we go to gut Arkansas without getting sued?” They were actually trying to hurt Arkansas recruiting. And how come they never bash coaches like Saban and Petrino when they walk out on another college in favor of a pro team, but then lower the boom when they decide to go back to college? Some type of business thing with ESPN?

  33. I was teasing about being Vince Dooley… What do you care who I am?
