Here is your San Diego Co. Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Preview
I am going to attempt to preview some of the bowls. I will freely incorporate ESPN Insider information to suit my needs. Unless the ESPN goobs bust my balls about using their information again.
Tonight Dec. 20, San Diego, Calif. Utah vs. Navy ESPN
This is a typical Navy team, a great reputation for a superb run game, a bad Defense and no blue water projectability. Sadly the Midshipman are both undersized and underathletic (except for the future Navy SEALS).
Utah belongs to the Mountain West Conference. If you will remember, I pushed for a letter writing campaign to the SEC Officer requesting that Alabama be ejected to the Mountain West. I just don’t think that Alabama can hurt anyone if they are banished to the Mountain West. Anyway, the Utes are a shadow of the useful team that Herban built and they are now the second entry under “Most Harmless” in the The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Either way the Utes will win.
Utah’s superior talent, stronger kicking game and the departure of Navy head coach Paul Johnson will be too much for the Midshipmen to overcome, writes Scouts Inc.

The Utes have the top scoring defense in the Mountain West and have won their past six bowl games — the second-longest postseason win streak in the nation. To win their seventh, they’ll have to handle the nation’s top rushing offense.

Navy promoted assistant coach Ken Niumatalolo on Dec. 8, one day after Paul Johnson left after six seasons to take the Georgia Tech job. Athletic director Chet Gladchuk specifically selected Niumatalolo because of his familiarity with the option.
“I don’t care whose offense we call it,” Niumatalolo said. “We’re going to use it because it works. I’ve been involved with this offense for 20 years. I’ve called the plays for this offense before. I learned a lot from Paul about the various wrinkles and how to make adjustments.”
