Rich Rod appears SHOCKED that WVU filed a lawsuit

Yeah I watched the Fiesta Bowl.  So fucking what?  Stoops underestimated  the Eers.  Remember Boise State?  why does OU eat cereal on a plate? Because they choke in a bowl..

Sad to say, but the only reason a program like WVU (that is, a school that is not one of the HUGE schools) exists, and that is simply to act as a feeder for the Big Boy Schools. That’s all. BCS B-List schools like WVU are not meant to actually compete for championships. The Big Boy schools win, and if they don’t win, they immediately ditch their coach and replace him with the best guy they can pluck from the BCS B or C list schools.

Now there are exceptions, such as Bobby Bowden (who built Florida State, as we know it, all by himself), or Frank Beamer (who is doing the same at VTech), or the coaches at Rutgers and S. Florida, who seem dedicated to turning their schools into winners. And those coaches should be praised, because their smart enough to know that if you take a middling school to new heights, you’ll be worshiped like a god at that school, and you’ll have amazing job security.

Rodriguez will probably be successful there for a couple of years if he gets the good recruits that have always went there. Then the rest of the conference will catch up to his offense and he will start peddling his ass for an NFL job. One day it will be “Michigan is my adopted home and I will be here as long as you will have me” and the next it will be “it is the Falcons, a job like this only comes around so often”.

But for most coaches, this is simply a career. And that means you follow the money and prestige. WVU fans shouldn’t blame Rich for leaving. Rather, they should look at the school, who took the easy road in hiring a “Larry Coker” replacement coach. There had to be a top-notch coach at one of the BCS C-List  schools who was looking to move up, like the Troy State coach.  Cripes, look at the Louisville’s crackerjack hire after Petrino left for the NFL, Steve KrackleTharp or whatever.  The Cards snatched him out of C-List Tulsa and the Da Ville returned to their suck ass tradition of losing immediately.

And I don’t like the fact that WVU has immediately sued for the buyout, instead of waiting to see how this plays out. Seems sour grape-ish, considering that Michigan swiped their basketball coach recently, as well. But I don’t know all of the details, so there you go.

Someone else was thinking the same thing. I noticed this link earlier on coacheshotseat.com:

Maybe you could call WVU a triple A farm club?

Thought I heard that the package for Stewart (Weis Jr.) was 800k/yr over 5 years, which, ironically, would total RR’s buyout. Ah, the thriftiness of those mountain folk.
