The Big 10′s Bowl Record = Fail

Big 10 bowl record is best described as less than stellar. I know that Big 10 fans don’t believe in conference loyalty. Why is that?

Wisconsin gave my beloved Tennessee all they could handle, but still lost. Michigan completely dominating Florida is a joke (41 – 35 is no where near domination…), and the SEC is 6 – 2 this bowl season. Oh, what is the Big 10′s record thus far? Looks like 3 – 4 to me.

Purdue 51 – Central Michigan 48 – impressive
Boston College 24 – Michigan State – Ooooo. A loss
Penn St. 24 – Texas A&M 17 – Way to beat a team in coaching transition
Oklahoma St 49 – Indiana 33 – Another nice loss
Tennessee 21 – Wisconsin 17 – Looks like loss # 3
Michigan 41 – Florida 35 – Actually a very impressive win, as this was practically a home game for the Gators
USC 49 – Illinois 17 – BLOW OUT! But Illinois really should have played in a different bowl game.

Let’s take a look at the SEC’s record:
Mississippi State 10 – UCF 3 – Not super impressive, but a bowl win for a third tier SEC team none-the-less
Alabama 30 – Colorado 24 – Didn’t Colorado beat (then) 3rd ranked Oklahoma?
Kentucky 35 – Florida State 28 – Not very impressive since FSU sat 36 players, but a bowl win for another third tier SEC team.
Auburn 23 – Clemson 20 (OT) – Yeah, my Tigers struggled against the Clemson Tigers, but we did install a brand new offense in 9 days.
Tennessee 21 – Wisconsin 17 – Looks like win #5
Missouri 38 – Arkansas 7 – Only blow out against an SEC team thus far, and Arkansas was going through a coaching change while 3 of their star players are looking to the NFL. Regardless, Arkansas looked horrible.
Michigan 41 – Florida 35 – Repeat, a very impressive win for Michigan, as this was practically a home game for the Gators
Hawaii 10 – UGA – 41 – Hawai’i should not have been in New Orleans for anything other than to watch a bowl game. UGA showed a lot of speed and power against a top tier WAC team. I could probably find high school teams in the South that could compete with UH, though…

I await the Big 10 rebuttal???

  1. I have to disagree, Hawaii should have been in the Big Easy… but for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

  2. @ 1 No, they should have been at some of the “select” sites in the French Quarter, if you know what I mean. I can see it now: “Rainbow Warriors Welcome”

  3. @2–

Absolutely, they like to wear makeup and line dance (the haka). yep, they would fit right in at Oz.

  4. You mean those places that have the little rainbow stickers on the windows? Fitting place for Hawaii fucks.

  5. I had fun at the places with rainbow stickers. Everyone was buying me drinks. There weren’t many chicks though. Which is fine because I passed out after the one “special” drink some dude brought me. Must have been mixed with Golden Grain or Everclear.

They took care of me. Even took me all the way back to my room and put me in my PJs. Nice folks. A little gayish, but nice………………………………

    What?

  6. I’m a Buckeye fan…but all Big 10 teams have alot of work to do if they want to compete with the SEC… Can’t deny it. The Big 10 has made some good decisions on HOW to get competitive…like refusing Notre Dame conference admission…that’s a start!

  7. Georgia didn’t even look that good in the game. They looked like they were sleeping through it. Very workman like performance from thuga. I was impressed that they could win like that without soulja boy playing on the PA

You’re right about UGA sleeping through the game. It was a live scrimmage for the UGA offense. It appeared Richt knew the defense would not allow UH to do anything, so he didn’t continue to run down UH’s throats and mixed several deep bench players early. 10 men in the box didn’t change anything.

The score indicated that the game was closer than it actually was. The SEC’s “3rd best team” snoozed their way to a 41-10 victory over an undefeated WAC team.

    Our freakin’ bad.

Our bad for not being excited to play the goofiest team ever in a BCS bowl.

  9. Yeah really.. I was asleep too… If it wasn’t for my love of college football, that “game”, and I use the word game loosely.. I would have gone to sleep like Hawaii’s offense did.. I take that back.. They didn’t even wake up for the game.

After the incessant bitching about the “lack of class” and “thug” nature, I felt like Richt had a soft spot in his “cold heart” for the big Kahunas.. He could have easily tossed more points on the board, but then how everyone would bash the efforts!! Those terrible colored people, beating up on those wonderful and friendly people from the islands!

Hopefully the Big 10 and Big (Insert number, direction) will start playing these lowlife WAC and non BCS teams, and avoid having this problem again next year. I mean, if anything, do it for the BCS.. You pad your schedule like you always do, and in return, knock out these craptastic flavor of the month teams from eating at the big kids table.

  10. I don’t think UGA is going to be able to put pressure on Brennan

  14. What is it with SEC fans? You guys seem to go on and on about how much better you are than everyone else. Do you feel that strongly that nobody is convinced? You come off like you have a inferiority complex. I hear the same thing when I go to the south to visit. Yankee this Yankee that. I never hear anyone in the north say redneck this and cracker that to visiting southerners. Talk about rude. What is it with you people anyway? Have you ever noticed when a non-american, english speaking or not, makes fun of the U.S. it’s always with a southern accent and they’re impersonating some sort of moron. Do you like coming off like that? I digress.
You need to accept that the Big Ten gets a lot of press because they simply have a higher population than the SEC. Are you honestly going to argue that Ala, Miss, Ark, LA, SCAR, etc have the population to rival Ill, OH, Mich, Penn, Wisc, Indy? There are simply more people in the Big Ten. It has been around decades longer than the SEC. Get a grip. You have a few great football programs. Shut up about it. You’re coming off like the whiner morons the rest of the world think you are.
