UGA fans celebrate in Dalton GA!!

The hot rumor, it is a only rumor, that NCAA Investigator Rich Johanningmeier has been in Gainesville since yesterday (2/4/08).

I’d assume he’d begin questioning on Tuesday. The timing of this investigation could not happen at a worse time for the Herban. Anyone remember that Bill Belichick, a confirmed cheater is a friend of Meyer’s? Just saying
Nor is it the best day for Gator coaches to be tied up with NCAA interviews.
One must assume
Johanningmeier is Gainesville to investigate any possible recruiting issues from the stories last week.

As a point of interest. Johanningmeier also handled Alabama Human Purchase mess…..

Florida Today has learned that the NCAA, after meeting with UF officials, have not found any rules violations at this time in the recruitment of junior college wide receiver Carl Moore and gymnast Maranda Smith.

“Allegations about impermissible telephone calls by the football staff have been reviewed by the NCAA and University and at this time the information does not indicate any violations of NCAA rules occurred,”
UF Spokesman Steve McClain told Florida Today on Tuesday.

UF officials discussed the issue prior to national signing day with NCAA officials. McClain would not confirm details of the discussion.

The recruiting practices in question included Florida coach Urban Meyer contacting Moore’s girlfriend, Smith, while both were attending Sierra (Calif.) Community College last fall. Smith also signed with UF as a gymnast. Since both were junior college recruits, they are already enrolled in school.

At question was whether Meyer violated an NCAA rule by contacting an athlete the Gators were recruiting in another sport.

The second issue the NCAA looked at was Meyer possibly handing a cell phone to quarterback Tim Tebow to talk to Moore right after winning the Heisman. Current athletes at schools are supposed to contact recruits on their own, not at the encouragement of coaches.

Bleaux me Mike, the boys from El Sal in the pic at the top of this post best represent my tude

7. LL - February 5, 2008

C’mon, Jai. Us Gators know that for Urban to beat Tennessee both on the field and in recruiting he’s going to have to cheat. Tennessee is just that good.

Speaking of football, what’s the latest now? 5 UT players that have been arrested over the past month? And the only one Fulmer suspends is the walk-on? LOL. Nice.

8. Mike - February 6, 2008

Hey Jai, congrats on the BB win tonight. As for your “tude”, those boyz show the same class as you and the rest of the Tennessee crowd.

9. Mike - February 6, 2008

BTW, Jai, how’s the UT recruiting going this year?

10. SeminoleUprising - February 6, 2008

I am not surprised that everything turned out fine. Herban is a fine man and the NCAA is johnny on the spot when it comes to descrepancies.

Mike and LL: Doesn’t worry you that the NCAA took the time to look at Meyer? It would worry me if they were looking at Auburn like that.

I don’t believe that the Bull Gators could fix a sanction.

Dem Vawls whupped that ass real good. 104 points??

Ears,

If the allegations were of a serious nature, then yes, it would worry me. But Florida will not get into NCAA trouble again, with Urban or any other coach. We learned our lesson.

And wtf, an Aubrn fans talking smack about basketball?????

13. LL - February 6, 2008

Doesn’t worry me at all, Ears.

Worry about your own program.
