SEC Power Poll

  1. Tennessee – They find ways to win.  Bruce Pearl has giving the players a taste of his own special brand of medicine.  The results have been 8-1 so far in the SEC and most of the wins have been pretty convincing except a close battle with Ole Miss when they still had confidence, and a low scoring affair with Brady-less tigers on Saturday.  They played a decent non-conference schedule, but we won’t really know anything about this team until they play Arkansas on Wednesday and @ #1 Memphis in 3 weeks.
  2.  Vanderbilt – Shan Foster and AJ Ogilvey are great players and have lead this team to a strong showing for the season, but their stumbles in SEC play have left some question marks.  Mostly can they even win an SEC road game?  Maybe they are too used to their fucked up gym and they can’t play if their bench is parallel to the court.
  3. Arkansas – The hogs have really moved up due to their great play in the past couple of games.  Their are still question marks after losing to two of the worst teams in the SEC, but if the hogs keep playing like they have been lately, then they will blow past anyone and everyone in the SEC.  Great matchup against Tennessee this week.
  4. Florida – The Freshman for Billy Donovan are really putting up some great numbers and have some nice wins.  They need an upset at some point to set them apart, but they should be good if they just continue to beat Kentucky.  Nick Calathes goes to the same barber as Tebow.
  5. Kentucky – Billy Gillespie continues to pull the wool over the eyes of wildcat fans in Lexington.  After speaking with Tubby, he realized the problem was that Tubby won a championship his first season and set the bar too high.  Gillespie is trying to install an attitude of losing in Lexington, but since SEC play began, they’ve been finding ways to win.  Playing in Nashville this Tuesday should set them straight.
  6. Mississippi St. – No one knows which Mississippi St. team will show up.  The Bulldogs have played the opposite of their state rivals.  With a subpar non-conference record, they proceeded to play with some of the SEC’s best.  The dogs will challenge Arkansas for the SEC West title for another week, but will fall behind after the hogs get a 2nd win in Starkville this weekend.
  7. Ole Miss – I want to rank them lower.  It’s just not fair to put them below Bama, LSU, or Georgia until they go on the road to those places and lose.  The rebels, just like the ’dores, can’t win on the road.  Andy Kennedy coddled them too much with a soft non-conference schedule.
  8. Alabama – When asked about playing Alabama, every SEC coach has this simple reply, “Is Ronald Steele playing?  No?  Why are they even playing without him.  He’s their whole team.”
  9. South Carolina – Lame Duck Coach.  Another Fowl of a mascot.  Watching the Gamecocks play right now is like watching a chicken run around with it’s head cut off.
  10. Auburn – War Eagles?  Tigers?  What’s the fucking Mascot?  The Tigers are riding a 5 game losing streak that could turn into 9 before a probable win against the Game cocks… War Tigers!  Doesn’t that sound like someone e-mailing into the Jim Rome show?
  11. Georgia – Five game losing streak for the Bulldogs.  Billy Humphrey arrested?  Again?  Most teams wouldn’t care about losing a mediocre player like Humphrey, but on THIS team, Humphrey is a star.  Georgia is really trying to get the coveted bottom spot.
  12. LSU – John Brady is gone, but more on that later.  Even before they lost their coach, the tigers were bad.  No dice if anyone was hoping for LSU to repeat Florida’s Double Championships from last year.  Corndogs can’t play basketball anyway.

The Vols haven’t played a decent non-conference schedule, they’ve played a great non-conference schedule. They’ve played more teams in the RPI Top 50 than Memphis has. They aren’t number one in the RPI for nothing.

UT #4 in Both Polls. Awsome, hope they don’t repeat what happened last time they made the top 5.
