Do staff changes impact on recruiting? (Thanks Tips)

Obviously, Tennessee lost it’s  entire Offensive staff (save one) heading into the end of recruiting season. I’m sure it was a factor in this class (34th). But “turnover”, in and of itself, wasn’t a failure indicator across the board.

The following teams have a new head coach this year:

Hawaii
Arkansas
Baylor
Colorado State
Georgia Tech
Houston
Navy
Michigan
Ole Miss
Nebraska
Northern Ill.
SMU
Southern Miss.
Texas A&M
Washington State
UCLA
West Virginia

Of those teams, the following could be considered actual competitors of UT:

Arkansas
Georgia Tech
Michigan
Ole Miss
Nebraska
Texas A&M
WVU
UCLA

Of those 8 competing schools, 5 finished higher than UT according to Rivals even with a new head coach coming in. Tennessee beat Arkansas (whose HC came at the very end of recruiting), Georgia Tech and WVU.

Also, looking at the teams ahead of us in the team rankings, the following had what I would consider significant staff changes:

Bama (OC)
Miami (DC)
LSU (DC)
SC (DC)
Auburn (OC)
Washington (DC, AC)
(Sure I’m forgetting some)

So the bottom line is this – staff shakeups happen everywhere, and many of our foes still made it work. Staff change simply cannot be blamed as the primary culprit here.

When are the blog awards coming out and how many do you plan on winning?

I thought you already had this figured out as Bama cheating?

That is just the default position

Sad State, this is a less likely cause and effect. As tips indicated, Bama cheating is more likely as that Bama has been caught cheating before. Trafficking in human beings is a federal crime. Check 8 USC 1325

Nutt and Petrino personally worked hard recruiting, Fatso Fulmer is jaded and just coasted. It was evident during the year with him in a coma before the Florida and Alabama games but being fully concious prior to the Georgia game. Fats has a great record in Knoxville but the Vols need to be looking.

Excellent post with even better points made. But the reality of the Vols recruiting woes this season were evident even before the coaching changes took place.Week after week you could see the recruits sign with other programs as far back as October.

What a shitty blog and stupid post. And anyone who thinks that Jai Eugene is worthy of winning any awards is ridiculous. EDSBS is much better, and Jai and tips are nothing more than Orson’s cum dumpsters.
