Pryor to visit Tiger High?

While the rest of the world waits for national No. 1 recruit Terrelle Pryor to pick is school, West is taking action. Pryor’s high school coach told CBSSports.com this week that Memphis is among “one or two” additional schools that have tried to get in on Pryor since the Jeannette, Pa., quarterback narrowed his choices to Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon and Michigan.

memphis hell

Pryor is rumored to be visiting Memphis this weekend.  I’ll admit I’m shocked that Memphis is  even trying for Pryor, and if they  get him I’ll admit I’m wrong about Tiger High.

Memphis fans believe that he is considering Memphis because he can play both sports.  I hope he enjoys playing in the New Orleans Bowl, but as a player can you say “Hey, I’m satisfied with that, being mediocre is cool.” You better get used to it, Pryor.  It will be as sweet as getting to Shreveport back to back.  If you are happy with a six or seven win season and a trip to New Orleans every year then Memphis is the choice for Pryor.

As far as the his recruiting holdout, I hope that this holdout doesn’t become a trend. In mid February coaches shouldn’t have to be worried about last year’s class. It takes away from knowing their personnel and planning recruiting and scheming for next year. The recruiting period is long enough and at this point Pryor’s holdout has become all about him. I bet all the schools involved at this point would love to force an ultimatum

Why does any school want him. He is obviously a prima donna, and likely will be more trouble than he is worth. Probably the only reason the Failboats don’t pull their offer is because they do not want Michigan to get him.

And why would he want to play football in a declining football conference like the Big 10 anyhow? Why not go play some Big Boy Football in the SEC?

If he can’t pick a college to go to, how in the hell is he going to call an audible at the line?

  1. Is that Dog humping a cat ???? Good gosh

  2. Do you actually believe that either Tommy West or John Calipari would allow him to play 2 sports?

  3. and yes it is a cat getting the canine chorizo

  4. You could have at least photoshopped Mayor Herenton wearing a Kevlar Crown of thorns on his head Jai…

  5. #2 – They’ll build a dorm just for him if he decides to sign with the Tigers. I doubt it will happen though.

  6. @5 Memphis (State) is planning a 120 million dollar, 40,000 seat stadium on campus to showcase Terrelle’s talent when they play SMU, Tulane and Southern Miss.

  7. @6 Yeah so instead of 40,000 empty seats at the Liberty Bowl now there will be only 20,000 empty seats on campus. Nevermind where on campus they will put it. I’m sure Calipari will spin it as: “Well son, you’ll have 20,000 people watching you play football, and 20,000 people watching you play basketball. We’re consistent here at Tiger High”.

  8. What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes…
The dead rising from the grave.
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria.

  9. Joel and I are buying the naming rights to the new on-campus facility. We haven’t commissioned an artist’s rendition yet. Something in the shape of a toilet bowl though.

  10. @7 It’s my understanding that they plan to put the place where that parking lot is on the south side across from the railroad tracks. They are currently seeking approval of the Memphis Coalition of Drug Dealers who ply their wares there. The school has assured the MCDD that there will be no loss of business continuity.

  11. @9 I think Kevlar Stadium or The Beretta Bowl

  12. @11 John Ford is a Glock guy and will never put up with that shit.

  13. Naming suggestions for the waste of money, I mean, new stadium that (doubtful) Pryor will be playing in:

Jump & Grab Field (in honor of late sheriff Jack Owens)
    Firing Range Stadium
    Da Crack House
Football Library (due to empty seats)
    Mo’ Money Taxes Stadium

  14. #13 – Here’s another:

    The Plush Palace

  15. @13 & @14 Combine and make it the Plush Palace Crack House. The ridiculous part of this is that a sixty thousand seat stadium is three minutes from the campus. They could upgrade the Liberty Bowl for about ten million and have a practically new place. Spending a 120 million which would be more likely 150-200 is just asinine.

  16. #15 – Therein lies the issue. UofM rents the LB. Of course, what they aren’t taking into consideration, as you pointed out, the cost of building a new stadium and the time it would take to start generating a profit.

If they built a new stadium it would take close to 20 years to pay it off. By then, you’ve got a 20-year old stadium in need of renovations.

Memphis has never had any insight. Look at the I-40 fiasco. The Pyramid. The city should have built a new stadium 20 years ago. The LB is 43-years old, no parking, uncomfortable, and in a crime-infested area. Of course all of Memphis is virtually crime-infested.

Go to thememphisedge.com and there’s a guy who posted a blog about this. I basically told him he was an idiot.

  17. @16 There are many “Pie in the Sky” advocates in Memphis but the school does not have either the alumni or fan base to raise the money to build the thing. To think that they are not going to need tax dollars is ridiculous. The guy that designed the Pyramid, architect Robert Lee Hall, showed me the plan, I thought he was nuts and a few years later up it went. There is so much corruption in Memphis that any project is loaded down with kick backs, bribery and extortion. For every dollar spent on the actual facility, the crooked politicians get a buck for their pocket. From a crime standpoint, Memphis has become the Mogadishu of the Western World. Boss Crump or Henry Loeb needs to return from the dead and kick some serious ass.
