Kentucky School President surprised, SURPRISED, when Billy Clyde offers an 8th Grader

Coaches of the Year debate with MAAD

SEC COY discuss Scotty Hopson’s and 8th graders.

Received this from Chris from the UK focused Intentional Foul website: In light of the slight hubbub surrounding the University of Kentucky’s signing of Michael Avery, an 8th grader who obviously hasn’t started high school yet, I managed to find a bit of humour ( spelled in British style for the UK fans) in the whole thing:

When news of the commitment reached a meeting of the UK Athletics Association Board of Directors on Thursday, it stunned school President Lee T. Todd Jr.

“An eighth-grader?!” he blurted out. [Charlotte Observer]

That was my favorite part of the article – President Todd hired this lush loon and he should not be getting all wacktose intolerant…Billy Clyde is quickly becoming the Basketball version of Batshit Shit Crazy Ed Orgeron. The kid is 13 and he watched him play twice. Hell, the child does not even know what high school he is going to attend next semester but has gotten a college commitment????

Here is the real question: Does the commitment really count if Gillespie was rip-roaring drunk when offered the kid? If it doesn’t, then nothing Gillispie does ever matters.
