Herban? Why are you upset with UGA? July 30, 2008

The Gates are upset with Mark Richt [GatorCountry] over the celebration. Richt like Tebow, IMO JMO IMHO, is probably some sort of deviant freak that is looking for a chance to show the world his freakiness. I would love to be a bumper car in either one of those dude’s subconscious.
I love this quote from Gator Country:
Round one to Mark Richt.
We’ll see who wins round two. Personally, I’ll put my money on Urban Meyer. When it comes to mind games, he’s about as good as it gets.
If you ask me, Mark Richt brought a butter knife to a gunfight and the guy with the gun has a howitzer. Paybacks are hell, baby. Just remember that.
Gator coach Urban Meyer is quoted in an new book about Urban Meyer’s view of the celebration in last year’s Georgia-Florida game. Urban Meyer said that Urban Meyer considers it a big deal, and that Urban Meyer will never forget that moment: “That wasn’t right. It was a bad deal. And it will forever be in the mind of Urban Meyer and in the mind of our football team. … So we’ll handle it. And it’s going to be a big deal.”
In other news, somebody actually spent time to write a book about Herban Meyer? Nasty.
Florida had 53 minutes to do something about it last year. I think all of these coaches need to regain control of their teams. This logo dancing, flag planting, jive strutting bullshit creates longer term problems.
Watch the video below. The hypocrisy of Herban Meyer is so thick that you can cut it with a “butter knife”.

Herban is great at playing mind games. Just ask Wes Byrum.
*yawn* Old news.
Jai I couldn’t agree with you more but I have to give kudos to Richt for playing up to the rivalry. If Herban isn’t playing the same mind games that Richt did then he is wayyyyyy overreacting. I see this as nothing more than feeding the fan base and firing up a group of kids.
It has never been posted here, so it is new. You know better than to bring that weak smack
As a Gator, I have no problem with what Richt did. He was trying to fire up his players. He was desperate at the time. Already 2 losses in the SEC, 1-5 at the time vs. UF, etc. But this is The Cocktail Party, a huge Rivalry. To think that this stunt wasn’t going to stick with the Gator Players and Coaches over the next year and provide motivation, that’s just ridiculous.
You’re right, Jai. When this was happening, we all were focused on Fulmer getting served a subpeona.
Disclaimer: I could give 2 shits about the Redneck Battle that is Bama vs. Tennessee/Fulmer. I was merely stating a point. Thanks.
After last year, we can finally care as much about the UGA game as we do with the Vandy or K-Y game.
They’re what, 3-15 since the dawn of the Spurrier Era?
Along with that, UT is 6-14 vs. UF since 1980.
Ron Zook owns Mark Richt.
“Disclaimer: I could give 2 shits about the Redneck Battle that is Bama vs. Tennessee/Fulmer. I was merely stating a point. Thanks.”
Yeah that gets old, but this is a UT site, so I just roll with it.
UF could beat UGA by 50 this year as “payback” and that’s fine with me. The “celebration” was funny for me and for my UF buddies. The UF guys I work with laughed about it on Monday. It wasn’t a big deal to normal fans.
Now, fans that spend several hours a day on message boards and weiners, like Franz Beard (what a horrible name), who write articles for NAMBLA-like websites like “Gator Country” or any recruiting focused site, yeah, it’s a big deal to those folks. For the litmus test, Gator fans that supported Tony Joiner are still very upset with the “celebration”.
Gator fans that are/were upset with the “celebration” are equal to my UGA bretheren who suggested that Mark Richt should be fired after the loss to UT last year. Idiots all around.
The vision I can’t get out of my head is Meyer’s “WTF-arm-raise” and UF’s bench “jump-around-we-got-spirit-too” after the UGA end zone invasion. That was hilarious.
“Class” and “rivalry” do not go together in football. You can’t have both, so choose one. A “classy” rivalry is UGA’s rivalry with Georgia Southern. Booooo.
Here’s to no class at all in football.
Well put Jon. Say hi to Tree Rollins for me.
Exactly, Jon. The Gator fans are over it. However, the Gator Players and Coaches will use it as added motivation for next year.
Who really gives a shit?
Not to talk about how awesome I am, because I am freakin’ awesome, but being an ex-athlete I know that most good athletes and coaches at that level don’t really harp on the past. They can’t afford to. They’ll talk about it to hype of the game for the fans and to get some buzz started for the season. UF will try to use it as motivation the week of the UGA game, but if they’re thinking about payback for UGA on September 6, September 20, or October 11, they’re going to get their tails handed to them, long before the Cocktail Party. “Payback” will be meaningless if they’re not undefeated rolling into that WLOCP.
Hawaii has the “Ha’ka” (I refuse to google it) or whatever they call that “we’re-about-to-get-our-coconuts-smashed-by-an-SEC-team” dance. That’s what UF should be preparing for because Hawaii is looking for “payback” against the SEC. I’m sure UF is shaking in their boots.
I highly doubt that Florida is going to be thinking about revenge vs. Georgia when they face Miami, Tennessee, LSU, etc. The Florida players will be jacked for the Georgia game primarily because it’s the Cocktail Party and their biggest Rival (besides FSU). If, IF they need added motivation, then can look to last year’s game for it.
UGA better hope Stafford is not thinking about Krispy Kreme on 9/13, 9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/1 and 11/15.
That’s one hell of a schedule.
Ha! Good one, Jim Bob!
@17 we’ll have plenty of corndogs and jambalya waiting for Lard Boy when he gets here on 10/25. He should hope he gets better treatment by the Tiger D than Greene did in 2003. That year, Greene had to contend with Chad Lavalais; this year it will be Ricky Jean…..
Ooooh, the battle for 2nd place in the SEC East intensifies.

Shamu311:
UF and UGA have both won 2 SEC Championships a piece since Tennessee last won 1.
I suggest UGA do the hully gully during warmups. I would take these gator threats seriously though as Ronnie “The Rifleman” Wilson is back on the team.
I sure the whole affair was traumatic for Herban. He must of poured over the Woody Hayes Autobiography thinking what would Woody say in this situation. LOL
Wyatt Sexton.
Seminole Downgrading
How’s that bad acid trip….. uhhh….. I mean Lyme disease treating ol’ Wyatt?
Old news. I’m tired of the crying and speculation.. All the UF fans that let Tebow park his dick in their mouth need to listen to what he said about it.
He doesn’t care.
Wasn’t it obvious 5minutes after it happened that UF would remember it for next year?
LL - Georgia hasnt won a national title in over a quarter century, and we own them having won 3 of 4 and a stretch of 11 straight years at one point in the 90’s. I have a hard time agreeing with your argument about Georgia when comparing them to UT.
And the fact still remains that we played in Atlanta last year while you tried to figure out how you could end up in 3rd place in the East. Thanks for playing.
Shamu311:
“Playing” in Atlanta and “winning” in Atlanta are 2 different things.
I don’t care if you own Georgia because I’m not a Dawg. I’m a Gator.
UF is 7-2 in Atlanta. UT is 2-3.
UT is 6-14 against the Gators since 1980.
Thank YOU for playing, douche.
