I’m Trying My Hardest……

not to become the Vol fan that I have hated for years. Reactionary, whiny, etc. I am sure all of you opposing fans are well aware of the type.

Geez, it is getting difficult to stay positive when teams with less talent flat out beat you fair and square.

Please, no excuses about the safety or the illegal man downfield no-call. They beat us because they wanted to win more than we did.

The worst part of this is waiting two weeks again before we play.

  1. Again, I think there is something to the heart of these teams. I’ve always supported Fulmer, but something was missing last night. It wasn’t talent, play calling, or athletic ability. It was heart.

I feel that the team mentally checked out. I’ve seen it in many games in the past few years and it frightens me.

Thats all I have to say about that….for now.

  2. I know how you feel. UF had a similar time with Zook. The difference is we fired that guy after three seasons. Fulmer is working on year sixteen. Personally, I hope Fulmer and Bowden stay around another ten years a piece.

No, I am pretty sure it was the play calling and the poor delay of game /false start penalties, the hallmark of poor coaching.

  4. Is this really the same “lloyd”? He sounds completely different from the “lloyd” who was on here last season.

There’s 11 games left. UT got waxed last year by Cal and UF but still rallied to win the SEC East and you all are already cashing it in after losing a heartbreaker in OT?

  5. They beat us because their quarterback got his shit together during halftime. Ours didn’t. Period.

  6. chow made the best “in game” adjustments, and Coach Ricky had the moxie to stick with Craft.
Since when does the PREVENT defense, prevent anything…..?
If they beat us deep, we deserve to lose..

  7. Two SEC teams lost this weekend. I was in the stadium for one of them (and enjoyed every minute of it). I stayed in Louisiana through a friggin’ hurricane to watch the other one on TV.

Kinda wish my power had been knocked out so I didn’t have to sit through that excruciating excuse for a game.

A Derek Dooley press conference, a hurricane and a Tennessee loss….definitely a day I would never want to re-live.

  8. Jim,

Plays mean nothing if your players have given up.

That is what happened after the Foster fumble. You need look no further than last years Florida game to see the same thing.

Yes, coaching and play calling are definitely factors…but the team flat out gave up.

I have no idea how you can compare the UF-UT game from last year (UT did not lead for one second)where UT averaged 0.7 yards per carry to a game where UT lead into the fourth quarter and averaged nearly 7 yards a carry when giving the ball to a running back. UT was outclassed by UF talent wise last year. UT had more talent than UCLA this year. The only thing more painful than watching Crompton try to throw a fifteen yard out was knowing that the jackass in the booth kept calling for it.

You are saying UT gave up on a game that they were winning at the time of the fumble. Their two drives within the last six minutes belie your claim that they gave up. I hope the majority of UT fans share your view, it explains how Fulmer retains his job.

  10. Special teams: When was the last time the Vols had a punt blocked and run back for a touchdown? Defense: Collapsed with two minutes to play allowing a seventy yard drive in six plays for the score. The Vols were flat out not ready to play and Fulmer needs a kick in his fat ass for allowing such a dismal performance.

  11. Sayitaintso –

Last blocked punt returned for TD: 1986 against Army.

    22 friggin’ years.

  12. Foster = Dropping things.Drive killer

  13. REMEMBER THE 2005 DISASTER. THE D WOULD PLAY WELL FOR MOST OF THE GAME, THEN GIVE UP THE WINNING SCORE. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WHEN IT HAPPENS OVER AND OVER?
