I just read young Crompton’s Sporting News Blog [link] and I am thrilled as shit that Crompton is “having fun”. Cause I’m not. I’m not so thrilled to hear that he came to UT to play like crap while losing to an extremely inferior, bottom-rung PAC-10 team. I believe that the Tennessee offense will not “get well” against UAB, see the bat signal above for my logic.
Most of the time I have a very long leash for players and coaches as we don’t always know the “Whys” and “Whens” that take place in practice and off the field.
Crompton may be the exception for me.
For 4 years all we have heard from the Cromptonites is “Just Wait”
He even boasted “Just Wait” himself
We have had his father ripping Cutcliffe “on-record” and no telling what has been said by Jon and those close to him “off record”.
His career statistics? 57 completions on 119 attempts – 47.9% 5 TDs and 5 INTs – By way of comparison Jimmy Clausen completed over 56% of his passes last year and threw 7 TDs to 6 INTs.
It would be easier to accept his poor performance if he appeared to offer leadership or a positive attitude but he seems to have a view that last night’s performance was “Good” – when you sprinkle some of the “pixie dust” on what appears to be a piss-poor attitude on top of these stats……you get someone that doesn’t appear to be cut out to turn things around.
I am sadly convinced that this mountain boy is a moron. Several generations of in-breeding have produced a man-child as strong as an ox, but not quite as smart as one. I have written this season off unless one of the younger QBs developes like a rocket. JC is NOT the man to lead the the Orange out of the wilderness! Today , I was reduced to wishing that we should not have been so quick to give up on Jimmy Claussen ( even though he is a cocky jerk) He is going to be player. Our JC is a loser at QB . Maybe give him a chance at LB where smarts are no so vital to success.

everyone please read stewart mandel ( on the SI website) article about Tenn and the mid-majors. Lots of good stuff, but the most important: Hamilton with his contract extension has put the seal of tacit approval on the Vols being the 5 or 6th best sec program. what does that say about lower expectations?
