Hot off the wire…
I personally find it a grand conspiratorial tale of rumor and innuendo, with a dash of the admitted collective want to believe thrown in for taste.
Here goes…
There’s old money at UT that apparently never truly got over the whole Fulmer and Major’s saga. This money has had a dislike of Fulmer for some time, but his results up thru 2001 were too good to get rid of him. Efforts were made by this group in 2005, but Randy fell on his sword for Fulmer and getting Cut back was appeasment enough not to fork over the buyout.
Apparently feelers were put out at the time to an NFL assistant coach thru some “connections” in Pittsburg (hmmmm!?!?). One who had Head Coaching experience albeit not a great result as surmised by his ass. coach position to date. The feelers we well received, but never materialized beyond that at that time.
The losses last year to UF and Bama brought the old wolves from their caves once again and had them stirring to rekindle the relationship with said nfl coach…and it was so. The check was in hand and then an astonishing thing happened – Fulmer made the SECCG. Again the wolves were held at bay.
Now here we are in 2008 with a humiliating loss to UCLA on national TV, uninspired UAB win, and a loss in which Meyer made Fulmer piss his pants the minute he brought his team on the field. The wolf pack is closing in for the kill and revenge is best served cold!!
Here’s what i’m told and how it will go down:
1. Fulmer is out at seasons end unless: We’re in and WIN the SECCG, or if we’re embarrassed on national tv again…then maybe sooner.
2. Adkins is out – good man, good coach, Fulmer guy
3. Clawson stays – Very highly thought of, handcuffed by QB right now. Runs the same offense as the coach coming in. Will keep continuity, and hopefully hold on to Giles & Oku for reasons you’ll soon understand.
4. Drayton stays – coach likes his NFL experience and Florida recruiting
5. Scott stays – Clawson’s right hand, recruiting in VA
6. Michaels – probably stays unless a spot is needed
7. Defense – House Cleaned!! NFL guys coming to be DC and coach DL & DBs, recruiters for other spot(s).
***Caveat*** NFL tenure and the fact that this guy may be in line for another NFL HC position are both large obstacles that may have to be overcome before this could ever happen. It is beleived his team will at least go into the playoffs. Another reason to keep Clawson imo.
So there you have it, don’t shoot the messanger as i CLEARLY stated it’s very conspiratorial and i don’t personally see the guy leaving the NFL.
But here goes….and it is coming from outside the Fulmer/ Hamilton camp. This is a presidential type decision.

No, no, no. Fulmer is being stolen away by FEMA. A spokesperson for FEMA stated that Fulmer was offered the position after witnessing how he could evacuate 100,000 people from a crowded facility in a fast, calm, and orderly manner on Saturday, Sept. 20th.

I just heard a rumor that it is in Fulmer’s contract that he gets a year extension every season he hits eight wins. Please tell me this is a joke. Please.
These two loses will result in 2 more years of extensions and $100,000 bonus. The VOLS reward mediocrity. We were envious of UK and wanted to start with the “wait until basketball season” mantra
