Alabama-Tennessee Preview: 3rd and Chavis? No doubt

by Jai Eugene

Does this video look like soft coverage to you? Not to me it doesn’t. It looks like a plan that is coming together very nicely to provide and restore hope to the evil and debauched Bammeroids. I hope you are ready for the nations best secondary Sarah Jessica and Coach Saban. I hope you are ready….

Do not misunderestimate him. John Chavis is a hard-nosed, old school coach and a defensive genius. I can almost hear Chavis now when discussing Bama and Tennessee, “Shoot yeah, they’re very physical. When you think of Alabama you think about a big, strong offensive line, people doubling down, pulling and kicking out. This won’t be any game for the faint-hearted. Women and chil’en better get out of the way. This’ll be full-grown men this week.”   In fact, I would bet that the Hospital ERs throughout the state of Alabama are stocking up on supplies for the influx of women that “fall down the trailer steps”  with “missing teeth or missing hair or sore ribs”after my defense makes yet another stop on 3rd and whatever.” I wish that we could dip Chavis in gold, he is a keeper.

On the offensive side of the ball the plan is also in place. A week after coach Phillip Fulmer opened up the high powered offense against Sly Croom and Mississippi State, it appears that Fulmer has plan that is geared to catch Bama napping.

Look for Fulmer to place more of a premium on time of possession than earlier in the season, Tennessee is last in the SEC in this category and will need to execute to win. This week it’ll be interesting to see what coaches think about it (with average plays per game down considerably). Offensive coordinator Dave Clawson has to be salivating thinking of putting on 80 yard drives that result  in  field goal clinics. To be successful, Tennessee doesn’t want to put Chavis’s defense in jeopardy, the offense will want to stay out there a long time, sustain long drives so that  defense won’t have to work too hard.

Look for more SEC coaches to take this novel approach in the coming weeks – To be successful, don’t score quickly, that way you can run more plays, have more time of possession, and rest your defense. It is better to hold the ball 35+ minutes, than score 3 touchdowns.  I expect the difference to be in a kicking duel between UT’s Daniel “Money” Lincoln and Bama’s Leigh “Legacy” Tiffen, with Lincoln winning it on several red zone conversions.

While some view the Vols red-zone statistics with ten touchdowns in 19 penetrations inside the opponent’s 20-yard line as disappointing, many in the Big Orange Nation believe that these “stalled drives” were designed in order to prepare Chavis  Berry and Lincoln for this pivotal week versus the highly touted Tide.

Tennessee wins this game 15-13.

Fucking Mexican is killing my brilliant offense.

This Williams’ man, who coached Brian by golly Westbrook, has got something in store for the roids to our south.

Fret not, Big Orange Nation…I went to the same school as George Steinbrenner.

    “Misunderestimate”? That’s Jerry Jones speak.

JPW is no Peyton but he’s not a JUCO QB like Tyson Lee. No gimme interception P6s against $aban’s Roids.

Close game but the Tide Rollers are winning the close ones.

sorry, Jai, but i hope UAT is 9-0 when they come to Baton Rouge. Just like they were 9-0 in Shula’s 2nd to last year in ‘05 when LSU went to T-town.

we know what happened back then.

Yep, 9-0 against a coon-ass LSU@BR team loaded with Saban’s players. The madhatter surely is doing a splendid job with HIS players this year, isn’t he?

GOOOOO DAWGS, SIC ‘EM! WOOF! WOOF!

I think that Jai probably shouldn’t use that “Sarah Jessica” thing anyomore. Not terribly relevant – sorta like the UT program. Isn’t it ‘Bama that Jai says is irrelevant though? He sure knows a lot about football . . .

So much class and tradition. The entire SEC should be proud to have Alabama as a member.

Class and tradition are odd words that are being thrown around on a UT blog that used to have a video clip of two girls eating their own excrement on it . . .

You hoped that “Sarah Jessica” would be ready for the “nation’s best secondary”. Perhaps he will – when he faces it. Against that really pathetic UT secondary he hit eleven straight passes . . .

Yes. We’ll have to see if we find out how vomit inducing 7 is. Right now there is cautious optimism that Tubby won’t be administering Tubby epicac this year . . .but ya never know with that guy . . . .
