That's right, Bammer Buttheads, bring back the good ole days, when the Bear was king and Alabama was #1! Just beat the hell out of who? Not LSU, though your monkey-brained (wait, is this fair to monkeys?) trailer trash fans who drove their rusty autos and leased Escalades to Baton Rouge chanted it mindlessly anyway after the game ended in overtime.
There ARE parallels between the "Good Ole Days" of the 70's and now. When Bear coached, Bamer's opponents were often the victims of questionable officiating calls at crucial moments in games. Wonder why? Come to think of it, Bammer alum Bobby Gaston was head of SEC officials then, too!
Saban is like the Bear in that both were willing to win at any cost for the Scumbag Tide. And their fans, then and now, would rather win a mythical national championship than the Bammer lottery! (Oops, there is no Bammer lottery, they still have to drive over to Florida, Tennessee, or Georgia.)
As a former resident of the not at all great (as in pitiable and pathetic) state of Ala-Bamer, I SAW the ole Bear carried out of two different Birmingham dining establishments after games he coached too drunk to hold his chin off his chest, with shoe tops dragging on the sidewalk, and with two Bammer staff members, one under each arm, dragging him to the car for the trip back to Tuscaloser. He still had on his houndstooth hat, though! Wow, talk about being a role model and having class!
And it was common knowledge in Ala-Bamer that Bear cheated in recruiting, a true Bammer tradition, though HE was never nailed for it at Bammer. (He had been put on probation by the NCAA at Texas A&M previously, and had the sense not to be personally implicated after that, sense not shared by Bear disciples Mike Dubose, Pat Dye, and Charlie Pell, among many).
So, the more things change, the more they stay the same, at least in Tuscaloser.
Big Bammer questions for the future?
1) Can Saban keep Bammer from getting into more trouble with the NCAA? Time will tell. Bad boys tend to get into bad situations.
2) Can Saban beat Florida in this year's SEC championship game?
I think Tebow and company will pound them after seeing their poor performance against LSU. John Pittypat Wilson is no championship quarterback, not even close.
3) Will Bammer again dominate the SEC as under Bear? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
