Look for an annoucment on Decemember 1st making Lane Kiffin the new head coach of UT. The agreement has thought to had been reached sometime last week, but multiple sources are confirming Kiffin as the new head coach.

I think Kiffin might be a decent coach actually. But get real guys. This won’t be a “splash” hire. I think Leach could be. Kelly? D’antonio built that team. This guy? Proof will be in the pudding. But right now, if he is hired. FL and Bama will be happy.
There are a lot of excellent college football coaches that have been busts in the NFL-Butch Davis, Nick Saban-the most recent. No one in recent times has been able to turn the Raiders around. I would not judge Kiffin’s ability based on the Oakland debacle. He did a super job at USC as a coordinator and recruiter. He will be a good fit at UT.

I think this would be a great fit. look at dominate the Trojans were when he was the OC/RC. If this turns out to be our next Head Football Coach and i hope it is, then the VOLS be contending for National Championships again very soon. GO VOLS!!!
You guys keep saying Saban was a “bust” in the NFL. The fact is his team went from 4-12(the year before he arrived) to 9-7 his first year and the 6-10 in his 2nd year was still a 2 game improvement.

People forget Spurrier was also a failure as a coach of my Redskins!! … But to put Kiffin in the same list of guys like Spurrier,Saban and B.Davis is crazy. Everyone know Sark was calling the plays in SoCal and Kiffin was a recruiting coorinator with a nice title of co-OC . Al Davis was dumb enough to hire a guy with NO head coaching experience and expect him to win with the freakin Raiders which makes Kiffin look even worse from a record stand point. Not totally his fault by any means. My point here is Kiffin would be a name hire only based on the fact that he was just the HC in the NFL for the Raiders(was fired though) and then his USC stuff which kids are going to notice and he will probably be a damn good recruiter but he isn’t a coach. If UTk hires this guy they better bring in some good assistants because Kiffin would be nothing but a figure head. I don’t know what else to say but I think this hire would be a mistake. We shall see though…As with schools like USC, UF and Alabama etc sometimes it takes a few coach’s to get the right fit. Good luck
